I played ffxiv for a while, way before heavensward was a thing, and honestly, the only thing, the ONLY THING I liked about it was the Hildebrandt stuff.
Here's a list of things I INTENSELY dislike about FFXIV, in order of most hatred to least:
1. Classes are locked to one role
2. The ONLY melee dps option that wasn't a faggot monk was DRG (this is when I played, I never got to try ninja, but I get the feeling its even more 2 edgy 4 u than drg was)
3. Leveling a new class after having completed your 1-50 storylines was basically grind: the game
4. Crafting was by and large RNG based
5. The people playing it were idiots. All of them. Literally every single one were just plain old stupid.
6. Most dungeons were so boring I literally would fall asleep running them.
7. Lalafell or whatever the fuck they are called are utterly retarded and are only there as pedobait, and I can't fucking stand them, or the people who play them. Race war now.
That's all I can think of. In short, fuck FFXIV. I had a good time leveling my first class to max with the storylines but everything besides that was shit. Kind of like SWTOR now that I think about it, actually.

first buff was for both MCH and BRD, when they changed how Minuet/GB works with reducing potency of stance related skills.
Then they made Quick Reload better. In this patch they made TP adjustments, added (back) 20 potency to one of the oGCD skills and finally Hypercharge buff, so almost every group now wants MCH, because they run 2 melee.
All these buffs nowhere near, for example, MNK buffs, who also got buffed all the way through 3.x.
My point is MCH didn't get buffed that much until last patch and only real buff for people to take MCH was Hypercharge buff.

I think there're a lot of issues with the game but these complaints are mostly stupid.

Classes are locked into one role but you can level up multiple classes on one character at a much better rate than most MMOs. The system works fine, and the interaction of the holy trinity is way better in this game than in most games. Any significant issue you have with it is probably worse in practice in the common MMO when you give it actual thought.

This one is a matter of taste so I can't really say you're wrong, but all the melee DPS do their job fine and there isn't any outstanding issue with their lore or flavour.

Leveling is faster in practice than the first class you take to max if you know what you're doing, and it's a necessary wall. It's content that's technically not required outside of high end content and sometimes not even there, and it helps pad out the game's longevity and forces people to learn their class instead of flailing around like retards.

There's nothing significantly RNG based about crafting. There're numbers on it but the system is really simple to learn and use so that they don't really matter outside of extra rewards.

As far as the story goes: I like it a lot. The whole chosen spiel is subtle enough and the only thing that your character has special is that you can not be tempered by Primals and can look into the past. Sometimes.
As far as powerlevel goes: The story NPCs are barely behind you and arguably Thancred is a master thief and Y'Shtola is the most powerful Conjurer in Eorzea.

The explosion of the Agrius' ceruleum engine, mixed with the crystallization effect from Middy dying (you can see the same thing at Tharl Oom Khash where Ratatoskr died) fucked the entire region. It's only being fixed now -because- Dalamud fell and Phoenix dispersed the aether from Carteneau all over Eorzea.

LOL. Kid, you must be pretty naive to think GMs are gonna do anything about your pwecious feewings. As someone who regularly calls out people and has reported people multiple times for harrassment and TOS violations let me assure you that the GMs couldn't give two shits. Sure, they'll chat with you, take some info about the incident, and assure you that they'll look into the issue then never do anything and simply close the ticket and send you a vague message about the "investigation" having been completed.
This shitheap runs on PS3 and devs have it set up to autistically save assets like every 15s. Server space is such an issue which is why Ishgardian housing has still yet to materialize. Meaning that chat logs and any player interactions are not saved in any way shape or form. There is a small number of very specific instances in which a GM will actually take any action against another player. And even then that other player has to fully admit to everything they did wrong. You could harass the shit out of someone and link a dps meter into chat then votekick them for low deeps, get reported, and then simply deny that it ever happened. And nothing will come of it.
SE is a business and FFXIV is a product. GMs will ban someone only if that player is causing other players to unsub (ie losing SE more money than they're making off 1 player).
