I'm not sure Hydaelyn will be straight out evil, but there's something we aren't being told if Urianger and the WoD both joined with Elidibus. The WoD was even about to save his world until they told him something that changed his mind. The Ascians are also dark and spooky because they're corpses that draw their power from an even bigger corpse. Some of them are straight out assholes like Nabriales and Lahabrea, but Elidibus already told us he doesn't want to fight and he's positive we're going to agree with him one day. Yeah, but you can still do the dragoon job quests even after Estinien goes full edge. Also there's a difference with Ishgard in that you can't go there in the first place until you've completed the requisite story. It would be different with Ul'dah since you can go there normally and have done so before. Besides the Immortal Flames, you'd also be locking people out of like 7 guilds, the markets, other quest NPCs, etc. Even with the short time you're "exiled" from there, they still have to awkwardly let you walk around by making the guard too scared to try and actually apprehend you.
The story was a bit of a disappointment though, I agree. They could have had you do something like invade the upper halls of Ul'dah as a dungeon in order to fuck up the Syndicate and establish a new government, but I don't think they actually cared to put that kind of effort in this part of the story. The entire thing was basically just an excuse to get your character to Ishgard. There is also the whole "destabilization" problem that causes Lolorito to intervene, since thing would have gotten proper fucked up if Nanamo had actually died which isn't the best state of things with the refugee crisis and the garleans still bearing down on Eorzea.

What is it about MMOs that attracts so many people who literally can't read and write? It's not just the shitters either - every single wiki or guide or even review I've seen for this game is filled with basic spelling and grammar mistakes, and good luck finding someone in game who can type out a whole sentence without misspelling something obvious. I don't think I've ever seen anyone spell "Dzemael" or "Akh Morn" correctly. It's not that fucking hard guys, it's 7 fucking letters. And don't get me started on the Gaols in Titan EX, I ran that dozens of times and the number of people not calling them goals can be counted on one hand.
This never happens with other genres. It's baffling. Is the typical MMO player that much more stupid than the typical player of single-player games?

It changes as you unlock more traits and skills.
Fire 3 and Blizzard 3 give full stacks of Astral Fire and Umbral Ice so once these are unlocked, you'll use them pretty exclusively to switch between AF and UI. Once you have Astral Fire III and Umbral ice III unlocked, an opposite element spell takes half as long to cast so switching becomes super easy.
In general you'll still be casting Fire 1 normally but Firestarter will make the next Fire 3 instant cast and free so you just pop that occasionally. Fire 2 is only for large groups of trash mobs.
Thunder works just as a DoT as you'd expect but the Thundercloud proc will make thunder instant cast, deal its full DoT damage at once and refresh the timer.
So it becomes more like this
Fire until OOM (casting Fire 3 if Firestarter procs)
Blizzard 3 (MP should be full after only 1 or 2 ticks)
Thunder (casting Thunder 3 if Thundercloud procs)
Fire 3
Fire until OOM

One you reach 60 is a little bit more complex. You need to activate enochian which is a buff that enables Fire IV and Blizzard IV. Fire IV does a shitload of damage and Blizzard IV refreshes the buff timer.
You can only use Fire IV and Blizzard IV during enochian but they don't give astral/umbral stacks, you you need to Fire IV, Fire IV, Fire I (to refresh the stacks) Fire IV untill you run out of MP then Blizzard III and occasionally Blizzard IV when the enochian buff is about to end. If you do it right, you can keep up enochian 100% of the time but if you drop it, you lose dps and need to do the Fire III rotation of the lvl 50 BLM.

I use it when I'm waiting my mana to fill up. I don't know if it's optimal but I use thunder I because it has the fastest cast time and then cast thunder III on procs when I have time like when I'm dodging some aoe spell.
You also get a buff on lvl 52 I think which greatly increases your cast time, but you have to cast the spells within the circle.
