Don't forget that your survivability is a lot higher with the purple weapons and that the DPS calc ingame doesn't include weapon skills
Everytime a weapon skill triggers your purple weapons are a lot stronger

I'm pretty sure many anons have noticed that the DPS value in the game is not really accurate. The Legendaries are likely much better not only in their attributes, but in the damage they can deal thanks to the many buffs on the weapon not accurately being tracked by the "+x Damage Per Second (if Equipped)" line.
