I watched JTails' stream for about an hour yesterday. He kept using terms that didn't apply (frame trap, overhead, instant overhead) and spamming the shit out of moves that are absolute garbage (air homing attack and body splash, both of which are easily stuffed on-reaction).

This game is surprisingly well balanced. The only bad character is Gardevior because she has no counter to being rushed even though her ranged attacks are OP.
I'm maining plain old Pikachu and wrecking shit, his mixup game is insane and he can string attacks together for days.

Very little in this game is truly punishable, and outside of playing shitters who just throw out punishable moves at random you're only going to see them when someone is using a piercing string because they guessed/reacted to counter.
Plus that Machamp video has him using bodysplash and air X constantly, both of which are massively punishable, so it sounds like you're full of shit.

I'm having fun guys but I'm starting to get worried the fun is petering out quicker than usual. Everything is really safe and it's starting to feel like Rock Paper Scissors where I'm more being rewarded for reading intent than learning the character.
