would you say the Redux versions are objectively better than the originals /v/?
or did they fuck up some where?
>>331344383
Yes. Both games now feel like two halves of the same game rather than an old game and its sequel. Weapon customization in Metro 2033 was neat.
>>331344383
They are objectively worse in most aspects.
Steath, AI, gunplay, neat little details, controls and atmosphere got fucked up.
All the bad things from LL put into 2033.
>>331346654
Forot to add, LL redux is better than vanilla LL though because of the analogue watch alone.

You'll get a lot of people on /v/ shitting on LL's mechanics and propping up 2033 as some genius TRU GAME, but reality is most of LL's systems are objectively superior in polish. 2033 vanilla has fucking garbage bullet sponge gunplay against monsters, bullshit scripted sequences out its ass, busted balance (amoeba sequence unforgivably bad), and a shitty economy. Last Light is a far more well rounded and paced game where doing pretty much everything feels so much better. Last Light's reputed busted stealth is a non issue on higher difficulties.
So yeah. Redux is the best version to play of 2033, and you can pick difficulty modes that are more reminiscent of the original with LL's polish. Vanilla 2033 really isn't worth it unless you just want to see what the original was like.

>propping up 2033 as some genius TRU GAME
Nobody does, merely comparing the two versions side by side shows that 2033 is much better at what it does.
>2033 vanilla has fucking garbage bullet sponge gunplay against monsters
Not true at all, maybe play the game on the proper difficulty it's meant to be played at which is ranger hardcore, you can down anything that is not a librarian and demon with 1-2 headshots from the AK.
>bullshit scripted sequences out its ass
Well both games suffer from that, so neither wins here.
>busted balance (amoeba sequence unforgivably bad)
The game gives you military ammo which can 1 shot those, revolver also 1 shots them.
>and a shitty economy
I ended up with 150 mil rounds at the end, in LL I had over 1k, which is utterly fucking ridiculous for a game which is supposed to starve you for resources.
>Last Light is a far more well rounded and paced game where doing pretty much everything feels so much bette
That reads for me like the game is overall more streamline, accessible for casuals who don't want to worry about anything and just want their fun handed to them on a plate.
> Last Light's reputed busted stealth is a non issue on higher difficulties.
Yes it is, the AI is blind, deaf and stupid on any difficulty.

I'd say redux better only in graphics and stability.

Redux of LL is the superior game - it's got good action and storytelling.
Redux of 2033 breaks the atmosphere with the new mechanics. It's technically superior, but this also detracts from the atmosphere.

Man I miss the original 2033 analogue watch.
Wish they made an actual fully functional 2033 watch with the working clock hands and the 4th hand which is the gas mask timer that is functional and can be set by turning the bezel just like in the game. I'll gladly pay for one and I don't care if that alone costs $100.
2033 has the best story.
Last Light has the best gameplay.

>mfw I realized that it actually shows you your system clock time
>>331348658

Polis looks way too dark and uninhabited in Redux
>>331344383
They're consolized, casualized, and raped.
Worse graphics, nerfed gameplay (more ammo, less traps, more bullet sponge enemies, binary AI) , Ranger HC is paid DLC.
I havent played the Redux versions but I asked a few times in Metro threads and all anons basically said that what the Redux games do better is negligible compared to the things they fuck up. Ill probably still pick Redux up someday if I find it at a bargain bin price but thats about it.
