In my Birthright playthrough, I paired Mozu with Ryoma as guard stance fodder, and since I wasn't grinding so it made sense to pair viable units with non-viable units.
I think it's funny how they're whole support convos were about training, but she still ended up at Level 2. Also, it's like this little country girl is getting ravaged by this hulking-ass lion motherfucker. But somehow NoA thinks it's too wrong to pair up Kana.
Playing FE14 was a chore, on all routes. I just couldn't stand any of the characters. I had just played TRS, which is infinitely better, so maybe that's why the experience was ruined.

IMHO ironman is the the best way to play the game. It's not because I'm "lol so hardcore," I really feel it's a better experience. Reasons:
1. It's more immersive. When people die, they die for real. It intensifies the game's impact on your feelings.
2. I don't do grinding. Replaying a map over and over again because you fucked up the first time is basically grinding.
3. Resets completely trivialize any map with a "surprise/trap" component.
4. Makes every playthrough unique. You can't just rely on the same optimal strategy every time. It's the same reason that random stat growths are important to the game.

So did IS. VERY badly. I think that was the biggest problem. I admit I wasn't the biggest fan of Lucina but Azura has made me appreciate her a lot more just due to how insufferable she is.
Not only does 90% of the plot stupidity seem to stem from her somehow, but the way the game tries to make you love her is too much for me. Everyone is either trying to tell you how great she is or trying to make you feel sorry for her. There are other characters I feel more sorry for because the game doesn't go out of it's way to.

If you play Birthright and ignore all Revelations based content, then pretty much all issues can be laid at Xanders feet. Imagine the ending if Xander had just laid down his fucking sword when his little sister and entire family begged him to.
Imagine if he hadn't murdered Elise. Imagine if he hadn't then forced Corrin to kill him in payment for doing so.
The only deaths would be Inigo (who cares?), Azura (Eh), Flora (Sad) and Lilith (QQ). All minor characters, save Azura.
That's a much, much happier ending than any of the routes offers.

I find it pretty hard to find a unit that has good growth in both Magic and Strength to abuse the Basara's capabilities, it's either they're really strong and have some dinky magic to toss when you don't want them to kill their target, or vice-versa.

Problem with this is that it means you are putting 15 levels into MK, which are 15 good levels being wasted. Best thing imo is to make her a WL for 13 levels and then reclass her for a couple so she can get those skills before turning her back. That said it's also worth buddy sealing with Beruka for some Berserker skills.

I've used Sophie x Velouria and Soleil x Nina in Nohr/Hard without grinding and they all came out well. They're particularly good for replacing someone who's RNG screwed or that has terrible bases.
