Its really straightforward stuff, things like synergy gage is in most fighting games nowdays, Assists are right outta Marvel vs. Capcom, and Duel phase isn't nearly as complicated in execution than other fighting games. The only real thing unique to this game is the two-phase system which isn't very hard to understand, and the UI is hardly busy.

I only played the demo but I wasn't quite sure how some of the mechanics worked.
What makes the game shift from Field Phase to Duel Phase? And when I'm in Duel Phase what exactly triggers the shift back into Field Phase? I was using Pikachu's uppercut attack and sometimes it would launch the opponent up in the air to be comboed and other times it would smack them away to the other end of the page and go back to Field Phase.

If you grab, or hit them with a charged attack, basically hit them with a big hit / "initiate" and it enters Duel phase, once you do it a few times it gets pretty obvious how this transition works.
Duel to Phase:
Either do a grab on the opponent or do a long combo string against them that sends them flying back into field phase.

I may be easy to please, but damn, while aliasing isn't exactly the nicest thing to see in certain cases, when you couple it with 60fps, shit just looks slick as fuck. I never really liked my games too blurry either and each attack feels pretty damn awesome to do. Some textures could still be improved as well some instances where the FPS might drop slightly, but daymn.

Matchmaking is basically instant, you will get a new match within like 5 seconds of starting the search, and then the matches are almost entirely lag free, occasionally you will get a bit of a spike at the start of a round, but it usually clears up pretty much right after that. I have yet to see a laggy match.
Local play is okay, its obviously not as good as the others, but its still playable on the gamepad.

The input latency is awful, youll get punished for what you did 5 seconds ago.
