Am i playing this wrong? Some of my friends said if my first playthrough isnt a sword/board im not playing it right. I tried using a shield but just didn't like it, should i tell them fuck off? Been having a good time regardless though, just recently beat OnS and 4kings.

no if you are progressing than you aren't really doing it wrong. My first "souls" game was bloodborne so I quite like being able to roll and dodge rather than use a shield. There are a couple of boss fights where you might wanna have a shield though

You can't play the game wrong, but people tend to suggest sword 'n' board because it's easier. My first playthrough I only used two handed weapons as well and had a good time.

Personally I went with sword, two-handed sword, massive hammer,Crossbowand shield all at once for my first playthrough. That way you can switch up your tactics on the fly.

Dark Souls is one of those games that get easier as you play it, because you get better at the game as you do. There isn't necessarily a "wrong" way to play, but playing with a style that youre not used to, or uncomfortable with just means learning another playstyle altogether makes it a little more difficult.
Why do people consider this a hard game? Have they never played an "online" game on their lives?

Its more of its a game that doesn't hold your hand, that also has intricate level design for the most part. Most people die from platforming issues or getting greedy anyways, or learning a boss' attacks.
