28 days ago, i thought hey why not upgrade to windows 10 because you know dx12, better startup times, faster cleaner gui. more performance overall etc. windows told me there are no compatibility issues, every program would work. then when i finished installing it, not only did most of my programs not work, some were missing entirely. so i spent roughly 2 days reinstalling all my stuff...then i noticed the boot times were much slower. i tried disabling everything, even installed stupid tuneup crap. boot time still twice as long as win7 in the end. then i noticed the new start menu and windows explorer is shit. no clue where to click to find my programs, and no clue how to change folder view etc..so i ended up installing tons of different programs which ended up making win10 looking like win7 again
then the updates started downloading. oh boy, the updates. i had no chance to disable anything, it was all greyed out in the settings. when they were finished, win10 looked like win 10 again and all this classic shell and winaerotweaker stuff was overriden. couldnt even move files in the explorer anymore. i uninstalled the updates again, and browsed the web for days on how to remove these forced updates and the whole spyware crap that windows 10 does. when all was done, i finally got to the point where i wanted to play some games. turns out i had to reinstall all of them over again. well, ok. but then....none of my fucking sacred japanese eroge games work anymore, even after new install. win10 just got rid of the applocale, and theres no way to get it to work anymore.
Thats when i finally gaveup and ragequit win 10 after 28 days. they came for my performance, for my programs, for my interface, for my privacy, for my interface and for my nerves. BUT JESUS CHRIST AT LEAST LET ME PLAY MY JAPANESE PORN GAMES!!! thats when i quit win10 and downgraded back to win7, that didnt work and i got a bluescreen on startup and had to install win7 clean again.

Do a clean install. Doing an upgrade fucks everything up. I upgraded first and has glitches and issues out the ass and long start times. Then I did a clean install and from the moment I hit the power button to the moment I'm on my desktop doing shit there's only about 20 seconds, most of which is just my motherboard splash screen

I don't know why people think that's impressive, I don't even use an SSD and my computer takes like 40 seconds to boot, windows 7.
And even if it took 2 minutes to boot, where's the actual issue? It's not like you constantly turn off and boot your PC. You turn it on in the morning and turn it off in the evening, the only time it matters is when you restart for whichever reason which is rarely.

Sounds shit mang, only reason I hadn't updated was because I really like the Windows 7 layout, hadn't been keeping track of any real problems with 10. Glad to hear I've dodged a bullet by not just thinking "What the hell" and going for it.

My best friend who should have known better did the free upgrade to 10 when it first came out because he loves free shit, to put it simply it fucked everything up and he couldn't game again until he spent days updating and learning work-arounds

i upgraded to win 10 as well, it forced me on a newer nvidia driver and those dont have the kepler optimizations like some win7 drivers had. i'm getting 5 fps less now in every game
