is true. The whole "timed combos with odd hitboxes" thing can be very annoying. For example, the timing you need to clear the tutorial with the master after killing the soldiers is nowhere near accurate to what you face in battle, and might actually make you learn the game wrong.

Fun combat system that is fairly engaging
Characters are fairly likeable
Story is pretty good by JRPG standards
Diverse locals and a fair amount to do
Story isn't afraid to buck typical JRPG trends(actual romance)

Random encounters can be very frequent at times
Random encounter loading takes a while
Some characters are very underutilized.
Its still worth the time to take a look at.

Guarding makes you immortal, 80% of magic is restricted to items, characters are incredibly poorly balanced, Dragoon forms are nearly worthless, and Additions are a shit gimmick that get old before the first disc is over and only serve to drag out already tedious fights.
