Sony panicked, releasing the safe, uninteresting ps4. Now Nintendo is going to reveal their true cards (the NX) and Sony has no way to counter them.

Mighty no 9 is about the same as the latest mario rehashes. Are you suprised nintendo is using mario to showcase for the wiiu?
Sony is going all-in on this gen because it's either win or die.
They hired a shitton of people to influence media's opinion on PS4 and their competitors. They bought many exclusives (SF5, Shenmue 3 aren't just "first on"), they're reviving shit dead games like Last Guardian and FF7 Remake and give for free devkits to indie hoping for big hits like Rocket League.
Even if they're selling consoles like crazy, most of those PS4 are only used for 1-2 games each year, and often don't even have an active PS+ sub on there. Ask Ubisoft: even if their turds have commercial exclusives with Sony, the attach rate on X1 is 25% higher than on PS4.
They're doing good at keeping the hype alive all this time, because if they were to stop the bubble would explode like the Wii one. If they can manage to sell 2.5:1 against X1 (which would be underperforming at this rate) they will start the next gen with a much higher fanbase and can afford doing mistakes, just like PS2's success helped them sell PS3 even if it was shit and had no games.
