If you want to be like the majority of /v/, start with 3 FES and then play 4. Play the older ones if you're interested after those two, they're closer to the mainline SMT games.

The gameplay is complete and utter trash, it's worthless. It's even worse than SMT1, an older game on a weaker system made with a budget of $500 and a bottle of water.
That said SMT1 isn't, Persona 1 just managed to be much worse when it really shouldn't be.

Some people actually enjoy using their brains while playing a game. Persona 1 has the deepest battle system out of the franchise, but you wouldn't know that by playing with a walkthrough
