The tactics in the game were never very complicated. You mostly hit regroup and ran up on a bunch of reds, overpowering them with number. Bunkers and strongpoints were different, but without the ability to create new subgroups on the fly it was too hard to issue complicated orders

Imagine if they pull everything off right for a sequel. Sub-squads coming in from other manholes on the map thus commencing pincer attacks, telling a member of your squad who was a veteran to provide cover fire with a hijacked helicopter, Soviet counterattacks so you get a pseudo-RTS defensive levels, larger maps with more Soviet infrastructure to destroy, specialist squad members like those in Godfather 2 where you have demolitionists and medics...
What I liked the most about this game is that both factions were equally as badass as the other, unlike games like Killzone where enemies have a far stronger identity and aesthetic than your own bland self-insert murrican military heroes
Also those fucking Soviet Officers are the enemies that made me enjoy using handguns, as an edgy teen who used to only play with rifles and machineguns before this game

Freedom Fighters 2 existed at some point, it was scrapped. What remained of it was turned into Kane & Lynch.
