Of course it hasn't been confirmed, but the leak has been absurdly accurate so far. It's very unlikely that it wasn't legit, at this point.
As for MS, SNKs new plan appears to be esports. Reviving Samurai Shodown next seems to back that up.
But Metal Slug has always been popular. I'd expect a new one at some point. It's certainly big enough and recent enough that they know it's an important series.

So far it has been 100% accurate, down to the number of characters and specific details including character redesigns.
So it isn't official, but it's basically confirmed to be accurate.
