How do you manage to take a game with as simplistic a formula as Bravely Default and make a sequel this bad?

And if you're playing an English version you have to deal with the removal of choice and consequence in the sidequests and can get only good ends. The one mechanic that was interesting has been removed because westerners get triggered by bad endings.

A romance wrote into the badly, written into the plot because the previous romances were popular.
All the previous romances written in BD are now concluded with happy endings because people wanted that.
