Late night space game thread
What have you guys been playing recently?
FTL might be one of my favourite games. Been getting into Starsector lately.
None, I need one though, somebody recommend me a good one that isn't from this decade so I can run it properly.

X3:Terran Conflict was released in 2008 and is one of my favorites. Give it a shot. Then, if you can break past the initial early-game hurdle, you'll never be seen again.
>>330525130
Starsector? What's that?Sell me this pen, annon
>>330525304
I'll look into it, thanks anon.
>>330525414
What.
>>330524791
Space Engineers is fun as hell to dick around in with friends if you all know what you're doing.
>>330525304
Yeah, this. X3: TC is extremely addictive if you're that way inclined. So much to do and see.
>tfw that semi-early period where you finally buy a trade ship and slowly, but surely start to make mad dosh
My dick quivers every time I see a solar power plant selling for 12 credits.
>sell shitload amount of energy cells to some remote ore mine
>come back and buy a bunch of ore for fuck all and sell it high like a greedy Jew to some weapon plant
>>330525414
It's ok, just google some gamplay vids.
Honestly though its been in dev for like 6 years and is no where near finished. Needs more content.

>not playing AP
>not going to the Teladi stock exchange
>not launching your sector trader / universal trader empire on your commodities trading
>>330525414
Mount and Blade in space
>>330525304
This, but I did it on X2. Brutal learning curve but so fucking satisfying when you know what you're doing.
>capturing pirate ships and selling them for mad moneyz
>scanning every rock in the sector by hand and finding a high yield one
>having your own mine/power plant/weapon facility and your army of cpu cargo ships coming and going
>using the paranid fighter that goes 1000 m/s with 10x SETA and finding out you can crash into planets
>wreking Xenon sectors with your twin PSGs
>saving up to buy your own Hydra
>realizing it's all completely pointless
Good times. Bad times. You know, I had my share.
Corollary to all the posts about X3/X2/X3AP (can't go wrong with any of them really):
Do not NOT N O T get X:Rebirth.
>b-but it's the newest and probably the most polished and most mode-
NO.
>tfw someone screencapped your post and you saved the image only to lose the chance to ever post it except in extremely niche situations like this

I wonder if there's something about making space sims that attracts scumbags.
>Deep Silver ruining the X franchise
>That moron whose own employees say he scammed people with Star Citizen
>Stardrive guy taking people's money, then leaving the game broken and unfinished and making a sequel
>Starsector's made by supposedly a decent bloke but S-L-O-W
>Squad and KSP
There's something afoot.
Evochron Legacy is pretty dope
>>330528282
You didn't mention Elite: Dangerous. I feel like I got nickel and dimed but in hindsight it was just good business.
>oh wow this game is $15 for the holidays - why not?
>play the game awhile, having fun
>~a week after the holiday sale
>BIG SHINY NEW EXPANSION PACK!!! ONLY $59.99!!!!!!!!!
>YOU CAN KEEP PLAYING YOUR SHITTY ORIGINAL BUT YOU WON'T BE ABLE TO ACCESS HALF THE COOL NEW STUFF THAT'S IN!!
>mfw
>>330528351
Oh fuck. I got Evochron Mercenary off some shady torrent site way back in the day but never really got into it. I could easily see all the potential though. I'm glad that the franchise is still alive; I'd have been a big follower of it if I wasn't already really deep into X3 at the time..
>tfw limit theory is dead

eve online
Just watched Interstellar, and despite its flaws I really enjoyed it
>>330530324
Interstellar WAS enjoyable, but the problem with it was that it was decently hard sci fi for most of the movie and then went batshit at the end
>>330530374
just like most of nolan's films, a trait he hasn't lost since the 90s
>space thread not taking off
RIP
Battlefleet Gothic, gonna pre order to get into the beta today.
>>330530863
space threads are slow unless someone posts bait to trigger /sci/ and people are too busy shitposting in other threads
>>330531242
>slow
They're just moving at FTL speeds, that's all.
