In order to hold any amount of interest, NMS would have to rip off Minecraft in just about everything, like handholding the player through quests with achievements, and some semblance of lore.
Will it go that direction, and how long would it take? Nah, senpai.

NMS is a legit survival game with serious consequences for player failures.
No hand-holding, quests, or the usual bs.
It's open world af using it's own engine.
It does have some lore and alien races to discover.
Playthrough at a casual level is around 300hrs to the enter of the universe.
