Come the fuck on, OP, 32gb is the very fucking least. I recommend 64gb myself, maybe more. But yes, you can keep on squirming through games with a 16gb card.
A 16gb I think would have about 130k "blocks."
Most retails games are 5k or less. A good number are 6k to 10k. Only a handful are 10k+. Depending on what you plan to play your average game size might realistically be about 7k.
In which case a conservative estimate would be about 17 games. So if that's all you need, go for it. Otherwise upgrade.
I suggest Googling a 3DS game size guide and looking up the ones you want.

It would be nice if Nintendo actually supported the 3DS Virtual Console.
I remember when they first revealed the VC concept they made it sound like it'd be loaded with tons of NES/SNES/N64/GB/GBC/GBA/TG16 games.
Instead the 3DS just has a handful of (albeit good) games mainly just for NES/GB/GBC. What a disappointment. Almost as bad as DSiWare was.

I agree with you and anytime I filled out a Club Nintendo survey for any VC purchase I made note, though moot, to tell them to keep pumping more games into it and expand to other systems.
For having a history of systems with hundreds of games, we continue to keep getting the same titles on every console since the Wii, in about the same order.
I don't expect much out of the SNES titles coming to N3DS, I say after the current list of known titles, we might get 6 more and then that will stop too.

I don't agree with the price of the Pokemon games ether, but they at least held true to their original reasoning for not bringing them to the VC, which was the lack of connectivity to trade/battle with others. Sadly it was limited to only local (not that I see there being a huge competitive R/B/Y scene), and that Pokemon caught will be transferable to Sun/Moon.
Personally hope we get G/S/C too.

Granted, while trading and battling is fun, the whole "You need other people to play these games" thing was always just forced on us from the start.
I would have been just as happy with Pokemon being released as one game, not two, with the ability to get all of the Pokemon on one cart. But still with battling and trading, of course.
In fact, I'd prefer it. If Nintendo ever actually ends the series, I hope they release one last game, with everything on it.
