What the fuck am I supposed to do in the Red Skorpion prison area? Surely I'm not supposed to kill all of the guards at the top of the area?

Also how am i supposed to get Red's passcode for fuck's sake?
>>
No one?
>>
been awhile since I played, but I think you need someone with really high hacking skill to hack the turrets and shit .

it's so irritating I can't find the passcode and I can't unlock the gate with like 3 points in lockpicking. why'd they make the game like this.
>>
>>330058730
>>330056953

Are you JUST getting there the first time, or returning?

If it's the first time, you ask people for the passcodes, the way to the salesman is off to the left of the path that leads to "all the guards"

The passcodes don't work because he keeps changing them. Destroy the turrets and go inside.
>>
>>330059497
I asked people and got 2 passcodes that don't work.
>>
>>330056953
>What the fuck am I supposed to do in the Red Skorpion prison area? Surely I'm not supposed to kill all of the guards at the top of the area?

You know, you can always just walk away if you can't handle the fight. No one ordered you to wipe out the entire settlement. You'll have to get in some fights to get the pigs back for that one guy, but guess what, just because he wants it doesn't mean he's going to get it.

>Also how am i supposed to get Red's passcode for fuck's sake?

Red's passcode isn't available anywhere in the game. Either fight past the turrets and find a way in the back. The password does exist, but it's an Easter egg reference that I know you won't be able to guess.

>>330058730

If you're at the prison and only have three ranks in lockpicking, then I know you haven't been devoting much love to it. That means some things are going to be beyond you. That's just the way a tradeoff works.
>>
>>330060072
>then I know you haven't been devoting much love to it
Yeah it's much better to pool all my points into lockpicking rather than safecracking and other skills across other characters.
Come on man I'm playing smart.
>>
My favorite part of this game is when you buy all the ammo available at every vendor and it still isn't enough to make it through battles.
>>
>>330060313

You should probably devote each character to a number of skills equal to the number of skill points you get per level. That will generally keep you at a comfortable level throughout the game. Spreading yourself too thin just means that you can't contribute at anything.

>>330060861

How the hell did you manage that? I've completed the game twice and I don't think I've ever actually had someone run dry on ammo, and I generally never even bought any.

You didn't double up weapon skills on your characters, did you?
>>
>>330061291
>You didn't double up weapon skills on your characters, did you?
1. I have two characters on Handgun, but that's fine because handgun ammo is never an issue (also because the other is also on Sniper).
2. I have 2 characters, my own and Angela, on Assault because I had no idea I would get Angela.
>>
>>330061558

I admit I've never had an assault rifle user besides Angela in my party, so I don't have any first-hand experience of their ammo woes.

Nonetheless, it seems odd that you're burning through the stock of every vendor in the wasteland with just two users. You may be playing too conservatively. Are most of your gunfights spent with both sides glued to their cover, sending low-accuracy shots back and forth across the range? Maybe forcing more flanks - or even utilizing Angela's wrench - would help you get through fights with less bullets wasted.
>>
Okay rate my team

10 strenght brute blunt/shotgun
7 luck 5 coordination thief thief skills/pistols
8 coordination sniper whore animal talk/sniper
5 Int 6 Char doctor first aid/energy guns

So far I'm out of bullets for my sniper, no one hits anything and the plants are raping me
>>
>>330064992

We'll need a bit more than that. Can we get screenshots of their character sheets?

Honestly, you should pay less attention to the absolute scores and more to the section underneath that lists your action points, combat initiative, skill points per level, and so on.

Generally, you want to have at least 8 AP and at least 12 CI or so if you want to keep up in combat. You can go less, but know that that particular character will have to be carried through fights. Also, you probably want to up Brutus, Rob, and Rangy's intelligence at level 10 - that will give them all an extra skill point per level, which will add up. Brutus would probably be happier with a higher speed, too, but combat-speed-boosting items may be able to shore up the difference.

Your party charisma is excellent, though. You probably won't miss out on any charisma-based rewards throughout the game.

I'm a little surprised you're playing Wasteland 2 and not Director's Cut. The DC adds an awful lot to the game and makes combat much more interesting. If you get frustrated and decide to start over, I'd recommend doing it in the DC.
>>
>>330059767
Exactly. Destroy the turrets. Or hack them.
>>
I like this game. It is a good game.
>>
>>330060313
Dude, you can perfectly handle pretty much all skills among your characters unless you're rolling with retards. Get at least 1 10 int character, everyone else at 4 and you're set for everything.

Don't put points in more than 1 weapon skill though, unless it's on your "genius".
>>
>>330060861
Stop rolling with all Assault rifles or with all automatics. Diversify.
>>
>>330061558
>>330063973

You can have 2 AR just fine as long as you don't go crazy on full auto shots. Keep them semi-auto and only switch to burst for emergencies.

5 INT is a waste.
Anything that isn't either 4 or 10 INT is a waste.

Less than 4 INT is useless.
More than 4 is a waste until the next cutoff (8), but 8 is a waste because it's more efficient to roll with 10 and just get those extra 2 ATT points from levelups (1 every 10 levels I think).

>>330067394
Meant partly for >>330064992
>>
>>330066950
you can fix that robot near their prison base with a spare tank tread part you get....i think its at the settlement that got buttfucked by synths. that little robot disables the turrets and you can just walk inside. You can also speech your way in IIRC.

doesnt matter, you might as well just blow it all up and kill all the red scorpions anyway. theyre retarded raiders that torture people into madness because their leader is a moron who's mad at the rangers for killing his rabid dog 30 years ago, and wants to burn the world down now.

You can convince him to work with you if you have a cure for a dog plague, but I didnt trust dipshits that spend half a lifetime building two-bit slave empires to suddenly change their minds.
>>
>>330066758
>>330067519
Okay, so I'll have to start over and give everyone 5 int.

Good enough
>>
>>330067959
>You can also speech your way in IIRC.
How? You can't actually talk to the guy, you need the pass to get through the door.
>>
>>330067970

4 Int.
>>
The Prison is fucking stupid. To peacefully resolve the quest, you have to kill everyone on the plantation because lolnostealth, then approach the prison, then pass a series of speech checks. Doing any of this in the wrong order leads renders the conflict irreconcilable.
>>
>>330067970
NO. GOD.

Don't give anyone INT values that are not 4 or 10.
And take at least 1 10-INT character, otherwise you'll be pretty limited in what skills you can get. How many depends on your Skill points per level: So if you have a character that gets 3 per level, you can level 3 or 4 skills, if you have one with 5 per level, you can level about 6 skills. I say "about" because that setup is enough to max all but 1 skills and get that last one to about 5-7 proficiency, but you don't need all skills to max.

>>330067959
We're talking about the first time you go to the Skorpion territory, to get the rad suits.
>>
>>330068396
I'll never get over how horribly broken the attribute/skill system in this game is. It actively punishes roleplaying in the most heinous fucking ways.
>>
>>330068396
>>330068134
Yeah, yeah, I meant 4

I guess the Doctor will be the most skillful of the group
>>
>>330068073
I'm not him, but I ended up going through a cave or something, finding a terminal, and talked to the owner through the terminal and asked him to let me in, I think it involved getting past a minefield and he's sorta dumbfounded at how you got there.
>>
>>330068563
It isn't that bad. You want to roleplay, go ahead, but you won't have EVERY PATH open to you.
>>
>>330068396
Why wouldn't you give everyone 10 int? It's been a while since I've played.
>>
>>330068924
Because then everyone is gimped physically. Plus it's way more points than you need.
>>
>>330068773
It's only tolerable if you savescum. Chance-based checks in a game with an extremely tight skill economy will just fuck you over. If it were remotely intuitive, I'd dig it, but there's just no room for experimentation or actual character when it comes to effective builds. My dumb bruiser will be forever outclassed by my skill jockey because INT is the stat to rule them all.
>>
>>330069186
You wanted to play a retard. You're playing a retard. The Attribute effects are very clearly labled. just focus on 2 skills for your retard and he'll be alright.
>>
>>330068773
Yeah but I want to roleplay and also do well at the game. I want to pretend all my characters are distinct, but I also don't want to miss out on content.
>>
>>330069735
You can't have your cake and eat it. I mean, how do you manage in RPGs that aren't squad based? Where unless you minmax and maybe cheat there's no way you can level all skills?
>>
>>330069295
My hulking retard is terrible at being a hulking retard, though. Even in Fallout, you could make an ape man and have a successful run because of a lenient-enough skill economy and a focus on multiple approaches, on top of not-completely-retarded attribute effects. But if you have <4 INT, your character is absolutely fucked no matter what you do. Want to have a gibbering retard that's good at breaking things and beating people to death? Well, you're going to have to choose between hitting things with a stick or with your hands, because good old Scrotus is too stupid to properly do both *and* break things. Never mind that he has the strength of ten men.
>>
>>330069903
If you want a gibbering retard with 2 worthwhile skills, just fucking have another smart person with him to compensate. That's the beauty of the party system, you can craft a team that complements each other's weaknesses.

And that's correct, I don't think a gibbering retard could figure out how to fight properly with weapons AND without. Take one and stick with it.
>>
>>330069186

This isn't Fallout. Even your skill jockey doesn't have nearly the skills to be good at everything, and even your dumb bruiser will become a master at at least a couple of things.
>>
>>330069872
That feels different. If it's just one character then it's just me playing the game. I want my self-insert to be as powerful as possible.

I'm not really sure how to put it into words. I thought it would be more fun (and I was kind of right, I was having more fun) to make characters. My smart character knew how to hack and use energy weapons, one character was tough so he fought unarmed and had hard ass and brute force. Shit like that.
>>
>>330070895
I don't know, anon. Aren't roleplayfags the ones always saying that you aren't supposed to see all content in 1 run? If you want to see the most possible, you have to minmax, and thus no longer roleplay. This is true for any game.

W2 gives you a lot of leeway too, because as long as you have about 15 skill points per level spread throughout your team, you're more or less set for just about anything as long as you don't focus on more than 5 weapons. Especially if you go AG center and recruit rose.

So go ahead and make your retarded bruiser, just don't expect your retard to also be master of every combat discipline.
>>
>>330070081
I shouldn't need to bring in a smart person to do strong person things, though. Why the fuck do I need to spec my skill jockey to excel in Brute Force just to make my Bruiser remotely viable in combat? This game's shitty attribute system ruins any sense of role thanks to the tremendous disconnect between attributes, skills, and combat. The bulk of the game's quest-related content is governed by skill checks, making INT the only worthwhile attribute for any sort of non-combat progression. If it was like AoD, where STR governed melee damage and starting combat SP, it'd be fine. But it doesn't work that way - only INT affects skills, meaning only INT affects standard combat performance (Coord's accuracy buff is so miniscule as to be worthless compared to actual skill increases).
>>
>>330069903

Doubling up on both brawling and melee is a sucker's game anyway. That wouldn't be a good idea even in Fallout.
>>
>>330071428
>I shouldn't need to bring in a smart person to do strong person things, though. Why the fuck do I need to spec my skill jockey to excel in Brute Force just to make my Bruiser remotely viable in combat?

Because you made your bruiser too fucking retarded to master 2 combat disciplines on top of how to effectively break shit.
>>
>>330071218
Yeah, I guess I want to have my cake and eat it too. I can probably just roleplay min-maxing.

Also, isn't Rose a bad companion because you can't use her against the final boss?
>>
>>330071539
Because the attribute system doesn't award skill points on anything resembling a gradient and STR doesn't affect melee combat. Stop defending a shittily balanced, counter-intuitive system.
>>
>>330071864
Like I said, you don't have to minmax THAT much. Just balance your team a little and make up for the holes left with companions.

Rose is great since she's not really a combat specialist anyway, so even if she turns on you at the end it's not a huge deal and you should have a lot of extra people fighting on your side anyway.
>>
i love this wannabe edgelord
>>
>>330072000
Don't blame the game because of your inability to read. Every ATT point is very clearly labeled on what it does and what it affects.

Also:
>Strength determines bonus critical melee damage, starting constitution, constitution gain per level

Sounds like it does affect Melee combat.
>>
>>330071428

Your bruiser can be plenty powerful in combat with a low INT score. Hell, in my first game my dumb bruiser WAS the most effective in combat.

Upping your skill is only one part of combat effectiveness. You need to have the combat initiative to act frequently, and the action points to capitalize on those opportunities to act.

And again, having both Unarmed and Blunt wouldn't have made your character any more effective at their job.
>>
Why do people call this game a grower? I'm only 10 hours in and it's already GOAT.
>>
>>330073692
No idea. I mean, it's certainly got it's flaws, but I don't think it deserves anywhere near the hate it gets.
