How the hell do I find people to invade in this game? Is PVP dead nowadays or do I actually have to wait an hour for my IP pool to fill up?

I can easily connect to 25+ nodes and pvp a different guy every 2 minutes or so.

PVP is still alive on PC, you just have to wait to get nodes. Try running around through different areas, it'll trigger the game to search for nodes. You can also try port forwarding for steamworks PVP servers, its decreased the time it takes to get nodes in my case

Lvl 1 invaders get people all the time. You're probably over leveled.
Stop at level 50 if you want to do Sen's Fortress and up invasions.

I'm playing through Dark Souls for the first time now.
I stopped playing for about three weeks because I absolutely hated Blight Town but once I got down to the marsh bonfire at the bottom I started enjoying it again.
I'm currently in Anor Londo after those two fucking Silver Archers and I only just found my first trick wall.
I'm liking this game a lot. I can't wait to play Bloodborne.

I invade with my SL1 constantly in burg and parish, tons of new people playing as well as older players. I always spawn in and do not touch the host unless he is adamant in attacking me in which case it is boring and I just kill him, otherwise I keep killing phantoms and just follow the host around dangerously close to his back to stress them out. They are very cautious about me for obvious reasons, but a lot of the time they sort of start trusting me. I make it my duty to block the staircase before the rolling barrel in the burg and points them to the black knight, usually they die. If they defeat them I do the patches emote at their feet and follow them to the taurus fog and wave at them as they go through. I like to think I made a memorable experience for some people, plus its pretty fun.

I've used CE in SotfS offline and it was fine, I read up a little and it seems to be programs that directly edit stats/soul memory that will fuck you over.
I'd edit items in and make builds then restart the game online after I'd finished manipulating stuff and closed CE.
I never had an issue but you can never know what's safe.
