Game design is the core demonstration of creativity in video games. The interactions between the players and the game are elements which can be appreciated in a manner distinct from films, literature, or music.
Street Fighter II is one of the supreme examples of game design.
The actual game part of video games is what we should all be pushing for and demonstrating when we want to show pride in our interest. We shouldn't be pointing to cut-scenes.

A simple Pokemon battle can be art. Anything that stirs up deep emotion and interpretation can be labeled as art and I think vidya falls under that criteria absolutely.
