Military Armor and Sci-fi armor don't seem to have any protection what so ever. For instance many people will focus on head and chest area and leave things like legs and arms not as protected. What are some good combat armor?

I dont see a problem

Yes because putting a heavy plate of armor on your arms or legs won't slow you don't or decrease mobility, you retard.

Most video game armor is way too constricting like if you tried to wear it in real life you'd probably pass out from heat exhaustion. It looks protective to have it from head to toe but it can get really hot and sweaty. Games can't really factor that in especially in environments that are really hot.

Feels bad man.
>>324192530
What were they thinking? Its pretty offensive to the actual 0311's.
Armor for leg and arm is pointless. Pointless.
You're not supposed to protect arms and legs, you're supposed to protect big targets, as in chest and head.
The only attention you should give for your arms and legs is for being as comfortable as you can be when engaged in a fight. Fully covering them with clothing so you protect skin, kneepads, elbowpads for bone protection.
Also, your clothing can't be saggy or baggy, it has to be tight.
That of course is only considered in case of medium-long range warfare and situations with limited gear, other situations like close quarters or chemical warfare have different things in question.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Slightly serious thought: would putting something like carbon fibre discs (ie light and strong material) on the outside of the legs and arms be remotely feasible or effective? Go look up some behind the scenes stuff sometime. They originally had a higher def version of H3's Mk VI for H4, but when they had a motion capture artist test a replica of the armor plates on it, he could barely move at all because the plates were constantly rubbing against each other.
When we're talking about mjolnir plating being fucking titanium, that's not a good thing. So it's understandable from an authenticity perspective for them to change it.

>>324207683
Literally the opposite, 343 armor is by far the least practical
>>324209991
When you run at high speeds, you'll often twist your hips in such a way that many of Bungie's mjolnir wouldn't allow. It would require them to literally bend the titanium plates.
Anyway, this whole thing is silly in the first place. Realistically, all mjolnir armor after mk V should have focused on mobility above protection in the first place. Shields are what protect spartans for the most part, and keep them alive. A charged plasma shot in canon will melt through mk IV, because the heavy plating was designed to protect against small arms fire and shrapnel moreso than plasma fire.
>>324210912
I think I phrased it wrong.
We are working on armor, but only to aide increased speed. Example being spider silk which was the basis of a few new protein strings found that are pretty fucking strong but thick.

The heavy plating on all UNSC armour was designed to deal with plasma burns, giving the wearing time to remove the burning hunk of metal for the marines or in the spartans case acting as another buffer player before the plasma hit the primary defense, the primary being the nanocomposite bodysuit.
Armour was the primary defense against plasma because shields were next to worthless against them

>Halo
>running at high speeds
2142 had pretty cool armor designs.
>>324211349
You don't seem to understand how armour like that won't work.
If I was wearing a shirt made out of a material a bullet or knife couldn't penetrate, well that good news for the shirt.
It is terrible news for my considerably less invulnerable body underneath, which would likely end up being penetrated by the bullet/knife AND the still intact shirt.
Unless the shirt could somehow negate the force behind the attack it's actually worse than a plate.

>The heavy plating on all UNSC armour was designed to deal with plasma burns, giving the wearing time to remove the burning hunk of metal for the marines or in the spartans case acting as another buffer player before the plasma hit the primary defense, the primary being the nanocomposite bodysuit.
Mk IV Mjolnir armor was literally NOT designed for plasma burns. It was designed for small arms fire because it was created before knowledge of the covenant existed.
In addition, most titanium plating on spartans was relatively useless against the majority of covenant weapons, and would let spartans survive a couple shots at best. Spartans began surviving under FAR MORE fire when shields became common place, and that served as the main form of defense for Spartans.

>>324198629

>>324201573
Bullets are different from arrows.
Deflection angles are far more severe when a higher velocity is involved. It's impossible to protect with something like that.
An ideal protection would be...get ready for this, it's insane.
head mounted 360 degree IR camera with a very fast frame per second.
IR camera would need to not be dot-matrix, but fluid and full within a mil unit of accuracy.
Software would be able to understand size, velocity of incoming object to where it could find proper radius per distance for directional EMP.
EMP would slow round significantly. It would literally bounce off skin. This is only 40 years away.
Batteries? No worries.

Naval warfare will become nasty business. You will literally be able to retain velocity while changing trajectory.
Doesn't matter though. It all ends when the weak leader is brought forth and presses the button.

>Ingame lore states she was skinned, sliced open and picked apart alive to figure out what made her tick
I will never understand.
>>324213986
>>324213392
Failing all that, just make the booty underlying the armor big.
>>324214213
There's an artist ontumblrwho specializes in Peacock porn (from Skullgirls) and constantly gets angry messages from anons saying how sick it is to sexualize her because of her background or something
Like who even gives a fuck at that point. If you're of the mind to jack it to a certain character because you think she's hot then I doubt canon factors into that decision.
>>324214213
Yeah but she has a nice booty.
>>324212378
>head mounted 360 degree IR camera with a very fast frame per second.
Could it not just be several cameras panoramic-ed together?
>Software would be able to understand size, velocity of incoming object to where it could find proper radius per distance for directional EMP.
You would need fairly powerful/smart processor's to chew through so much data and make calculations, powering them would be the main issue I'd think.
>EMP would slow round significantly. It would literally bounce off skin. This is only 40 years away.
You would need a stupid amount of energy and power to deflect a bullet travelling at speed, your talking a shit tonne of amps for a single person.
>Batteries? No worries.
>Just wait until you guys find that there is literally free energy all around at all times lol One (well, another) guy is going to find an extremely low resonant freq and go "uh...hey, guys?" and that's that.
Can you explain what you mean in more detail?
>>324214213
She has one of the fattest asses in the game Anon.
This is all thats required.
>>324206179
The only armor I liked.
>>324214442
>Could it not just be several cameras panoramic-ed together?
Stitching video feeds together in real-time is an incredible undertaking, you would need a very, very strong computer to do even low-framerate video, and that cost raises with every camera you add.
Spreading democracy to filthy alien worlds has never been so stylish.

>>324214763
if the background history of fictional characters bothers you and prevents you from jacking it to whatever you want then that's your deal. Stop projecting.
>>324214763
Its already been clear that you as a Tenno space-child pilot warframe exoskeleton things.
The Valkyr you pilot isn't the Valkyr of original lore, its a copy of the original frame like everyone else that crafts a frame.
>>324189824
>>324214684
Then have a shit tonne of cameras each in charge of one specific area then?

Try disgusts. I don't find raw muscle structure particularly sexy.
>>324215402
>its a copy of the original frame
So it looks like it's been skinned and partially dissected too.
>>324215402
So how is that explained in regards to the frames themselves lorewise?
Were the Tenno always strictly space kids or were they once the people that actually wore the frames?
>>324215694
I don't know, now that you say it that way, a girl who is just naked muscle structure sounds kind of hot.
>>324215761
The frames are meatpuppets the space kids use to channel their abilities through via mental magic bullshit.
>>324215694
>So it looks like it's been skinned and partially dissected too.
Not really. As a copy its the same exoskeleton but theres no reason to believe whats inside is a clone of the original person. Even if it was a clone of the original person wouldn't be skinned, thats not something ingrained in your DNA.
>>324215995
I'm aware of that, but was it always this way? Were the frames once what the Tenno were instead of meatpuppets controlled by the current Tenno?
>>324215524
That's what you would do, but the problem is how you show it to the person inside the helmet coherently, which is where stitching comes into play.
>>324216191
To my knowledge, we have no idea. Based on the lore descriptions of the frames you can definitely infer that though, its a plausible theory.
>>324216067
>theres no reason to believe whats inside
There is no 'inside'. Frames aren't suits with pretty people in them.
>>324216191
Before the kids got involved, Tenno and frames were one and the same. Tenno/frames were always people that were sent into the void and changed. The difference now is that Tenno are the kids, and the frames are built for them to possess.
>>324216574
If they aren't suits then Valkyr doesn't look very skinned to me.
>>324216191
The frames were created as proxy bodies capable of channeling the voidborn powers of the Tenno, which were dangerous to everyone around them, so it's fair to assume that it has always been that way.
As for why the frames have distinct looks is probably because they were designed for their original operators, while you, the player, could be operator #1425345 for that frame for all we know.
whats the point of armor if you still die anyway? you're barely protected
>>324202681
whats with the radio on his chest? I thought the omnitool was their radio? other than that, fucking GOAT armor.
>>324216748

>>324216980
Well evidently a skinned frame doesn't look nearly as disgusting as a skinned human.
>>324214763
why boner
>>324216558
Why would you need to show it to the person? Isn't this an auto-EMP-deflection system you're talking about?

>Labels are just industrial signs shrunk down
>Casually has a radioactive sign on it.
>>324217594
Oh, we're talking about completely different things. I was under the assumption we were talking about a fully enclosed helmet. If you wanted to detect projectiles zooming towards your head, you wouldn't use cameras, you would use some kind of sonar.

I never understood how chief gets fucking upgrades after each game. You know what wouldve been cool in 4 (ikr) is the promotional shit showing a worn and rusted H3 armor but eventually getting an upgrade when you reach infinity. Something to surprise us idk.

>>324218509
Wow that sounds superb man. I guess ODST 2 is out of the question.
>>324218719
not with the original team its not.
>>324218347
There was an idea floating around before 4 came out where chief's MK6 wouldn't be up to taking on prometheans, so you'd upgrade it over the course of the game and by the end chief would end up with a hodge-podge suit field modified to fight them.
>nobody posted smug marine yet
>>324216980
If thats what a skinned Warframe looks like then alot of Frames must be partially skinned considering their appearance.
>>324218859
Too bad. Can't have any ideas floating around in 343 Halo can we.
>>324218347
Well it established he was issued his Mark VI at the beginning of Halo 2 and he still has it through out Halo 3.
>>324219040
Has 343 ever stated what's up with his new suit?
It's gotta just be a chief special because original MK VI still exists.
>>324218541
How'd that go?
>>324219229
Theres very slight reference to nanomachine bullshit or something but its just chalked up to 343 taking "artistic liberties"
>>324219609
The nanomachine argument doesn't hold in 5 though, because chief and blue team have upgraded to GEN 2.
But yeah, artistic liberties.
>>324202348
>have an itch on your face
its all over
you cant even attempt to scratch it against the inside of your helmet
>>324218783
Doubt its gonna happen period. I mean for a short game as it was it was cool to play this silent, hyper lethal badass whos just getting his feet wet. Honestly what can they pull out of their ass that wont be some shoehorned fanfic.
>>324219040
I understand that but how did he upgrade while under hyper sleep for 4 years? Now that I think about it they should've ended the game with the close up of Chiefs eyes and zoom out as the new helmet slips on
Okay I'll stop dreaming now.
>>324204262
jesus christ hes thin
I imagine a suit like that would be a bit bulky so hes even thinner than that

at this point it would only match Chief and whats his face from 5.

Mobility
As nice as it would be to just cover every soldier head to toe in SAPI plates, thats just not going to work if they have to do thing like walk, or move their arms.
So you focus on the vital bits, put more protection on the vital bit every fighting force is trained to aim for, and call it a day.

The character designs in MD are much better in general, they consulted actual fashion designers and shit
