It's not good.
This here is coming straight from Witcher 3. Assassin's Creed Black Flag, even Fallout 3, and all in all, the RPG Elements are really lacking. This counts the NPCs, the story, the quests and general feeling of freedom.
The combat is alright, but has some really weird design choices like some classes having 6 skill slots while others only get 3 of them.
The pawns are not very good either. Their AI is lacking, and there isn't even an option to directly control them like other RPGs I can mention. They range from being shit at dealing with enemies, to suddenly being god-like the more experience they get, to the point of leaving you in the dust.
The world is pretty empty, too. And you really have to go out of your way to fight the bigger foes, where the meat of the game really is. I don't think you can even fight an Hydra outside some quests, and the most I've seen walking around are cyclops, chimeras and only one drake.
It's also way too linear. Like, JRPG linear. I've replayed it twice and both times, the story always follows the same pattern.
Maybe it's because this is an old game, but, well, other games already did open world better by now.
I'd give it a 7/10. Here's hoping they improve the sequel....if it gets released in America.

Fighter has the highest defence of all classes, they also have the most skills to get out of stunlocks actually.

When you select a vocation is influences your stat growths as you level up. For instance Rangers receive the highest stamina per level, Sorcerer receive the highest magic per level up.
If you wanted to build a Magic Archer character it would be a good idea to raise your magic and stamina stats by leveling as Ranger and Sorcerer for a while.

Magic archer has magical aim assist, and the shots you fire are little homing missiles. Ranger is only hard with a controller if you're totally shit and don't know how to aim with both sticks. So I just found out the Berserk armor sets aren't in the PC version of the game. Did the quest for the Quarry and they weren't for sale so I looked it up.

They're missing textures so if you get them that way or by modding them in then you'll crash when equipping them.

It's meant to be a balanced class like that, but if you build your character a certain way, you can do more damage with certain attacks. Want to be the shit out of things? Take assassin levels. Want to spam your spells like stone forest, magic cannon, and sigils? Take sorc levels.

Playing a warrior has been pretty boring so far. It's either light/strong attacking small niggas or climbing on big niggas and stabbing their eyes out.
The character creator is pretty nice, but I find the lack of eyepatches disappointing.

You buy the skill and then you use the special attack skill button + jump to roll. Don't worry it's a core skill so it does not take up a slot. It's a dagger skill so all classes with daggers equipped can dodge roll.
Finally got it downloaded, going in mostly blind. Magick Archer looks awesome, do I start with Mage or Strider if I'm aiming for that?

Mage is fine, you get magic attack growth and other neat augments like more magic damage for your sparkly bow.
Strider gives you neat stamina growth and more strength for your dagger attacks.

As soon as you reach Gran Soren or Bitter Black Isle. You can unlock new classes in the inn at Gran Soren or by talking to the chick that takes you to BBI. I recommend waiting for Gran Soren because the gear for the other classes is also sold there unless you got lucky with a world drop and already have a magic shield

Anyone know if anyone's sorting the textures out? The one thing that DD suffers from is naff textures, even on 4k. There was an anon in /ddg/ fixing them with mipmaps or something.
I played the shit out of this years ago, but I'll be joining in again soon. Keeping an eye on Nexus and seeing what comes out, it's a shame that the pawn system is borked though. Hopefully they fix that before long.

Playing on Hard Mode since I already beat it on Xbox.
I had forgotten just how amazing the game is.
100+ frames are an absolute joy.
Additionally, with some post processing the game actually looks pretty decent.
