Runs great even on toasters, gameplay varies wildly between classes.
Pawn system and teaching them is pretty neat but sometimes frustrating.
Climbing on enemies feels a bit silly sometimes, but is functional.
Character creation is pretty in depth once you figure out you can further customize individual parts.
Lots of 'TECHNOLOGY' moments also, won't spoil them.
In conclusion: it's easily worth 30 dollaridoos.

Kingdoms of what literally bankrupted an US state
combat feels fantastic, very capcom in feel. vocations are incredibly varied and even the hybrid ones feel unique. setting is fairly standard western fantasy, but actually interesting because they don't shy away from fuckhueg monsters. quest design is surprisingly good. lots of endgame and newgame+ content. pawns are the best companions in any game, period.
it's good. it's not perfect, it's ugly and the story is just alright, but it's damn good. it's worth playing for the combat and the pawns alone, but everything else makes for an incredibly satisfying game.

No, just straight up hard mode. Goblins are constantly one-shotting me since I began on hard mode, and I can't QTE wolves biting me since each tick does like 200 damage.

I played this and leveled to 200 before it was cool and I've beaten it dozens of times. In all honesty, it's one of my favorite games. I can't recall if you get the unlimited ferry stone in any updates or anything since I've not played it in years and I got Dark Arisen when it came out but other then running around everywhere it's fantastic.
If you enjoy games that you can just run around and kill shit in it's the game for you. It might be hard or slow at first but it gets better with the stronger you get.
Also, ranger is broken as fuck and probably the funniest class to play.

Actually to add to this so I don't seem too one-sided the graphics are a little off but I don't mind that stuff. Though I honestly have a hard time thinking of bad things. I suppose the story is hard to follow unless you're asian tier up in there dissecting things.
Though some more good things I can list:
Get your friends to get their pawns to a high level quickly because it costs no crystals to summon pawns of your friends so long as they're on your friends list. Also also, make sure to put the lovings to someone you like because romances are thing. NPCs that aren't important are dull though so just warning you. THOUGH MOST IMPORTANTLY, the hydra vore is superb.

Really fun, but requires a lot of time investment. The first time I played it, it felt slow and boring. After a few hours I figured out all the shit I could do and started to REALLY enjoy it.
I enjoy the ambiguity of the objectives; there's not a lot of hand-holding.
It's also a really good PC port; has the graphics options most people could want and good keyboard and mouse support, save for a few menus that are a little bit clunky.
The actual in-game controls with the mouse and keyboard are flawless.

Use an XInput wrapper.
By default, the dual shock is DirectInput. But so are loads of generic controllers, too. So as a result, the button prompts correspond to the button number.
XInput just assumes you're using a 360 controller so the prompts are xbox.

There is literally no reason not to have a full party. The only downside of rented pawns is that they don't level like your main pawn does, so you only get a few quests out of them before you need to trade them in for ones that are at your level.
Story makes more sense once you beat postgame.

Got go Gran Soren, walked into the inn, picked up the quest off the board there, an escort quest.

And go we did, all the way to the far west side of the map, past a fucking bandit fort full of enemies that literally kill me in a single hit, through two cyclopses and several flocks of harpies, mind you I'm level 12 when leaving Gran Soren, level 20 by the time I get there, still die to everything.
And let me tell you fighting a fucking cyclops at night is bullshit, in fact night time is bullshit period, enemies keep infinitely spawning right on top of me and when a random mage can fireball me to death from the other side of the fight that's kind of retarded. And the lantern does fuck all for visibility, and even though I bought a full regalia of armor at the place I escorted the asshole to, I still get oneshot by a bandit when I get back to Gran Soren.
At least I killed that fucking Chimera on the way.

Playing it so far and it's frustrating. Your moves will fail to connect frequently either due to your character not turning or enemies not getting staggered and just walking away mid-combo, your special effects (knock an enemy into the air) don't ever happen when you need it so half the skills are fucking useless, the others are inaccurate at best.
Archery is also kind of shite since enemies who stay at a distance are either so fast and random that hitting them is retarded.

i'm a cynical 25 year old faggot who has started and dropped 10 times more games than i've actually finished in the last few years. this game is legitimately lots of fun, and i can see myself putting hundreds of hours into it across multiple characters.
the combat feels like partway between shadow of the colossus and diablo, the difficulty is good, and on hard mode it can be legitimately really hard. i never played it on console, so i know nothing of the story, but it seems like it could be interesting after playing for like 5-6 hours today.
i think it's definitely worth a pirate to try out, and if it seems like something you'd enjoy, give it a buy since it's only $30 if you really want access to the online pawns.

honestly, in a game like this the story doesn't matter that much to me. the gameplay is satisfying enough to carry the game, but a good story just makes it all the better.
It's pretty fun and interesting, but also rough and unpolished in weird ways. I took a random quest, and now an important NPC is following me around, waiting for me to take her to an area of the world that I can't reach because I'm not leveled high enough. I have no clue how the Pawn system works with borrowing people's pawns, because it's barely explained at all, and I just got out of a boss fight where the only way to actually do anything was literally just "run away from the boss" without a really good sense that it's what I should do.
That said, I think it's legitimately really cool. It's sort of like what you'd get if you described to people who have never played a sandbox WRPG what that genre is like, and let them make it. It does a lot of stupid bullshit, but it's got this cool vision behind it despite all that.

I had to go back to that misty forest because I only killed 7/8 spiders needed for a sidequest(was busy following Quina)and there was a bandit group blocking the way in. After they stomped me seven or so times, I finally tried, and succeeded in Skyrimming my way past them. Then I killed the spider, then I got lost in woods for a little bit, then I got back to the story.
The biggest flaw I've found is the unsettling young girl pawns I see all over the place.

You can switch vocations at any time after you get to Gran Soren and alter your arisen and pawn's appearances pretty easily. Not sure if you can swap sex though.

Surprisingly, I've had the escort NPC survive getting stomped on by a cyclops that would one-shot everything in my party, things got a little dicey when my tank pawn got knocked off a cliff and I had to do without for the rest of the way (through a fucking misandrist bandit fort, thank fuck my team is charlies angels) but typically the NPC's should be fine if you manage them a little.

Played it on PC for the first time today. Reminds me a lot of Mount and Blade except with less freedom to be a roving conqueror and an actual plot instead. Also it has beasts/mythical creatures which so far have been the high points.
Definitely worth 30 bucks if you've never played it before. If you've played it on a console that you still own I don't really see why you'd get it on PC unless you're thinking mods are going to add a ton of replayability.

Game feels like an interesting halfway point between Dark Souls and Fable. Wish it had more RPG elements though.
Everything outside of the combat feels weirdly shallow, like the world doesn't have a lot of depth to it as far as other characters and how you can interact with the world extend.
Still, I'm having fun.

It's alright.
It gets sucked off to hell and back because it's hipster Dark Souls. Came out about half a year after Dark Souls and a month before Dark Souls came to PC, so right away you can see the hipster angle. Dragon's Dogma was ignored by a lot of people for being on consoles when the already-popular and successful Dark Souls was just on the horizon for the master race.
You'll notice a lot of games /v/ likes are liked less because they're 'x' and more because they're 'not y'. The same goes for New Vegas. An improvement over 3 for sure, but people act like it's the second coming of Christ just because it isn't Fallout 3.

So I like this game so far and the combat system seems adequate, can somebody explain to me why everyone is praising it as awesome? I mean you have a basic strong and heavy attacks and then three specials for primary and secondary weapons. What exactly is amazing about that? I guess you also have the grabbing mechanic where you can climb big guys but for 90% of the fights I've been in so far (wolves and goblins and the occasional harpy/bandit) that's not really a factor so I find it hard to praise it for that too much.

I think I'm only a bit further than, but it ramps up. You get launches and you can start to actually chain crazy looking combos together.
Too many people compare this to DaS, when it terms of combat they are on exact opposite sides of the spectrum. It reminds me of DMC or similar games.

Oh it gets worse, or stays the same depending on your mileage. I'm level 24 now, got armor from an area way above my level, and shit around Gran Soren still oneshots me.
For some reason, despite me having almost 200 more armor than my pawns, they can take at least three times the damage before going down.
