Crisis Core was shit. The gameplay was terrible, every character original to it was a poorly written and unnecessary addition to the series' plot, the ending totally missed the entire point of the original scene, and the missions were repetitive grindy bullshit with a rare (bad) boss battle.
Zack and his interactions with Yuffie/Cloud, plus seeing Sephiroth as a normal dude, were the only good parts.

Replay Galaxy. After you choose a mission from the hub, you just jump and run until the end. No searching, no exploration, you never get familiar with an environment, since there is a set road that changes with every mission.
When you revisit the same place twice, and everything is at the same spot, and you can fucking tell where you are in relation to other stuff, and use that knowledge to navigate the levels, it's a fucking miracle.
Usually you just follow a stupid path that goes through new bullshit made up on the spot for the mission at hand. You don't even ever need to turn the camera around the whole game.

Most of the levels last for a fucking eternity. Looking at the maps for each of them, you can see how much they blatantly copy and paste level gimmicks to pad out their length. You have absolute fucking travesties of levels such as Marble Garden, Carnival Night, Launch Base, Sandopolis, Lava Reef, Hidden Palace and Death Egg. The level design is so fucking obtuse that it makes Sonic CD look like the daytime levels Sonic Unleashed. Even the speedrunners recognize this, making use of the utterly broken level warping to effectively not play the game at all. Fuck this shitstain, it's such an abysmal followup to Sonic 2.

MGS2 is a brilliant beginning and interesting idea in general, hampered with cutscenes and codec calls that last an hour every 30 seconds, constant hand holding, nonsensical execution of the plot, amazing engine wasted on the big shell (which was basically empty and had tiny ass areas) I could go on. MGS2's fucking demo disc is the only thing related to that game that's worth one single fuck.
At least MGS4 can be a fun afternoon, if you let it be. It's still shit though.

It's fairly automated, but it has this kind of "mastermind" feel to it, where you can program your team hours ahead of time, and watch them do your bidding (more or less). It gives more control than any other RPG ever made, by taking direct control away from you. And the grueling dungeon crawling segments are enjoyable to me, because I'm weird like that (I guess)
Of course, lots of people like to "command the whole party" which is cumbersome and REALLY annoying to do in FFXII, so that just leads to even more hate...
Honestly, it's like an 8/10 game, but most RPG players aren't looking for a game like FFXII, or just don't understand how it's supposed to work, so they hate it.
This is the one occasion where I think that n extensive tutorial that flat out spoon feeds you how to play the game would have been a good idea. As long as it were optional.

I spent much of November and December 2015 playing through all SoulsBB games at my cousin's place while all of our families were together for the holiday season. It wasn't a very enjoyable experience. There were three main reasons for this (in order of importance): (1) the stamina system, (2) the loot system and (3) the overrated difficulty.
>Stamina:
I don't like them mainly because of the way that the stamina system limits your options so damn much. It is tied to offensive options (attacks), defensive options (blocks) and mobility options (running, rolling, backhopping or, in Bloodborne, those DMC-esque "steps"). Basically, any action you do that isn't walking or opening doors/treasure eats up stamina. It makes the game so damn slow. And almost feel turn-based at times. I spend more time waiting for my stamina bar to regenerate than attacking a boss or enemy. This is especially the case since I like to use super heavy weapons like the Black Knight Greataxe and the Greatsword.
>Loot:
I hate any game where there are certain weapons and items you can only get via low percentage drops, like certain upgrade items in Demon's Souls or certain weapons in Dark Souls 1/2. I hate dealing with a luck-based system like that.
>Overrated difficulty:
I played each game in order of release. I died less and less in each newer game. Most of my deaths were in the first game (Demon's Souls) and trying to get used to the controls and the movement. But after finishing Bloodborne, I revisited Demon's Souls and sped through the game once. I only died four times, and that was not because of the enemies, but because I'd accidentally roll off cliffs. People talk about the SoulsBB games as if they're as hard as Ninja Gaiden or classic Mega Man or a Cave shmup. But they're not.
