Alright, I'd say that's a fair question all things aside, so I'll try to answer it best I can.
Pros:

Probably the most important thing to mention to people considering this game is it takes quite some time before you CAN love it. My first beholder fight, atleast 20 hours in, was the defining FUCK YES moment. Great game, takes some effort to get through the start.
Still had it's moments before then, of course, but it's a fair warning to give I think.

Go magic archer or mystic knight if you still want to be able to use magic. You can carry around both a staff and a weapon to switch between melee and wizardry, plus the melee attacks utilize magic as well. It's just a shame you can't switch weapons on the fly, that would be great. Triple jumping with a magic archer and switching to a staff in the air to hover

You can throw materials in your stash everytime, you never need to have them on you to enhance gear and shit.
Curatives and everything you need for trips needs to be sorted tho, cause some of that stuff is heavy as fuck, you'll get the hang of it.
Just make sure you got a lantern a pickaxe at least one oil flask and a ferrystone + portcrystal if you got one on your adventures. Leave the rest clean for free space.

At the beginning there's a tutorial, then you'll spend an hour in the character creator. After that there's an intro sequence and a bunch of cutscenes. After that, unless you head out straight away you'll run around the village for a bit and that's the two hours already spent. Even if you do advance the story as fast as possible, it's still a slow start and you'll fuck around in an encampment which is still pretty much an extended tutorial. I would recommend pirating it if you want to see where it goes without worrying about getting your money back

The leveling system makes no sense. If you stay the class you want to play, you're fucked for stat growth, usually.
Also, the fact that EXP is divided into your overall level and vocations gets confusing. Apparently killing enemies that give you around 100XP or less gives you the most vocation points, whatever they're called.
Then you get to the annoyance that is the pawn inclinations, and the stupid potion fuckery you have to do in order to get the inclinations you want. That shit is asinine. Who designed the systems in this game?

Hard mode isn't very good for first time I think. Those big enemies for instance, for a long time they'll oneshot you with anything, which just made me want to not climb them or do any of the cool stuff. BBL is not meant for that lvl and it shows so pretty obviously since you don't do any dmg to them anymore at some point. So in short I'm too op for the normal game and too low lvl for BBL.

Swap between them, the game rewards leveling multiple classes anyways because they have different stat gains, so just play one for a while and switch when you get bored. Either one will be fun enough that you stick to it, or you'll double your fun because you won't get bored playing the same old class.

Poorfag with 6300 and R9 270 and it can't even keep a consistent 60fps+ no matter what graphics settings I use, but it only drops really bad when there are a lot of people around (Gran Soren) and when looking at specific directions in an area (out towards the sea in starting village, towards the north outside Gran Soren)

There's a dragon who is extremely powerful and also tied to some very spoilery universe stuff, suffice to say it is your job as the PC to go do some very important things about that.

It's a very slowed down simplified character action formula for the most part, but with plenty of room to do some really cool shit, when I say slow I don't mean dumbed down, just not bayonetta ultimate climax action. I would compare the "feel" of the game to a mix of witcher and shadow of the colossus because everything has the same feeling of floppy physics to it, as well as a very deliberate combat style. In terms of story and scale I would say it's like oblivion if instead of a million sidequests around every corner you have only the main quest, but the world still feels well realized.
There's also the pawn mechanic that I don't have any real comparisons to make.

Yes and no depending. They're definitely later game monsters and probably the strongest. But honestly every big enemy or significant encounter is going to feel powerful at the right level. Also the last boss is a dragon.

Not hardly. the best advantage money can give you is tons of healing and powerup items (which are trivial to buy anyways) and better gear. But the gear available is tied to progression so it's not like you're going to stroll into gran soren and buy endgame shit right off the bat.
300,000 isn't really that much. It will smooth out the early game but won't make the slightest difference in the long run.

It's magic archer that's the strongest, the other archers aren't nearly as powerful, in fact the pure archer class, ranger, is probably one of the weaker ones.
But if you're looking for a solid way to control your power use lower level gear. Leveling up your vocation it mainly to get and improve skills, getting new gear is pretty much a secondary leveling system, you'll rarely find any from just fighting, so almost always you'll get it from buying the next tier. Want to be weaker? Just use weak gear.
And don't listen to the other suggestions telling you to do hardmode. Don't do the hardmode right off the bat, it starts off so unforgiving you won't want to learn to play, and then gets so easy you won't need to. Normal mode is the best experience.

Question! I've already played 100-200 hours on PS3, not sure the exact amount but I platinum'd it. I am hype as fuck for another go at this glorious game, but I'm looking for some interesting build ideas. Last time I played I switched around between all the vocations but mostly specialized in magick. I originally wanted to play an MK but it was a bit slow paced from the start and the FPS didn't help it's appeal. Ultimately I spent most of the game as a magick archer which was fun as fuck and I'm really tempted to just play it again, but I feel obligated to try something else.
So, are there any cool/unique/interesting builds out there? I was considering making Kazuma Kiryu with a Haruka pawn and doing an unarmed build, but the shitty unarmed combat looks boring as fuck. Looks more like something you'd do for a challenge, not as a fun way to play though the game.
I was also looking at the Iraklis sword, we should be getting all those DLC weapons aside from the Berserk stuff right? I never spent much time playing warrior but love the slow huge weapon style so that might be a cool thing to try. Only thing I'm worried about is building all that strength would kind of lock you in to the build.
Any other ideas? If I can't decide something I'll probably just end up making a completely average character and switch around to whatever I feel like at the time.

You're getting conflicting info, because everyone thinks the class they prefer is the most OP.
The "worst" class is probably either Warrior or Mage. Warrior, since you are slow as fuck and have no range and mage since it's boring af. It's basically a gimped sorcerer.
The strongest is probably either Assassin or Magick Archer.
Hard mode is hard as balls for the first few levels, but then you get showered in XP, gold and Discipline Points (used to buy new skills) that the game becomes easy-mode a lot quicker than on Normal.
So take what you want from that. I wouldn't do hard mode. The beginning is hard as balls, and that can be fun, but after that it becomes trivial because of the XP, money and DP.
