What games let me play a real monk where I live a simple, pious lifestyle hand-copying books, studying scripture and secretly scamming riches from people outside the church?
In the game I'm scripting the monks are a subclass and each one plays differently based on what scroll they have equipped. Each one comes with their own defensive and offensive options and buffs. The Judo scroll, for example, gives the monk a forward dodge that gets in close and has slight invulnerability as well as grabs that does a large amount of damage on the target with moderate AoE damage from the impact. Whereas a Muay Thai scroll has the monk gain access to a attack speed up buff and attack flurries as well as an AoE sweep kick. There's around 20 different scrolls.

Their martial arts are varied enough that they the exact depict can be varied enough to match the tone of any work, from serious combat to flashy drunken wutang shit. In Bloodborne you can get a weapon called Kos Parasite that uses unarmed attacks as a move set. Damage scales off of the arcane stat, so that might work.

It was strange when I played a monk in BG2, and entered the watcher's keep.
I recall encountering some magic golems that were immune to magic and magic weapons. There were conveniently non-magic weapons in a cupboard nearby. However I neglected to arm my monk with one because I made the assumption that his hands which are "considered" magic weapons would be fine.

The monk class is really satisfying on a very basic level : no equipment means you are just a little less powerful, while weapon classes are just fucked.
Wizards are cool for the same reason. Going into hell naked and making the demons and devils beg for mercy is priceless.
