>I've been refunding a lot of games because I thought they'd be good but they were shit
>Steam sends me this passive aggressive message reminding me to check out user reviews

I like that I can try new games without worrying that I might waste my money on something I don't like, but does anybody know if at some point Steam decides that you've had enough refunds and stops giving them?
>>
Considering all the stupid shit reviews that everyone thumbs up, steam should be ashamed for even mentioning them.
>>
how many refunds did u ask?

you can still open another account and buy games on that one until the same message appears
>>
>people still buy shitty games somehow

Oh yeah, let me filter through the first 30 fucking meme reviews to try and find something that resembles conscious thought.

Steam is near chaos in some situations.

Steam refunds are not a way for you to demo a game, they are there so you can get money back on a broken buggy game
>>
>>323656713
Of course it's passive aggressive. I don't know if you've worked in a job sector that provides refunding of products, but usually it's an absolute pain in the arse on their end, even worse when done electronically. Half of the time, refunds are the result of you being a stupid, ignorant and uninformed consumer that doesn't do their research before purchasing, therefore buying shit willy nilly before throwing a massive temper tantrum when you realize you bought a load of shit.
>>
>>323656976
Cant you just... check on Youtube for some review or just gameplay from the game and see if it's your style?

Deal with it. If a game doesn't have a demo I don't see why OP shouldn't be able to try out a game first (especially when it comes to PC games and their optimization), either through piracy or the refund system, though I have no idea why he would choose the latter.

It's always hilarious how immensely asshurt people get from refunds. If your game is good, bug free and has good amount of content for the cost people won't refund it, it's simple as that. I don't see any reason why the "poor developers who need to feed their family" argument should hold if they're knowingly supplying people with lackluster or outright broken products.

The only reason retail stores disallow giving videogame refunds outside the plastic wrapping is because of piracy, otherwise they would allow refunds. Why are you against someone buying a game, not enjoying it, and getting a return? You can literally go anywhere, to any place, that sells any thing; and almost 100% of the time get a refund.

So why are you against people getting refunds through steam?
>>

I'm against children who think it's a method of trying out 3000 games because they buy with the intention of not being a customer, but a window shopper, and they have the balls to get mad when the company protects itself by telling them to fuck off, which every single industry does.
>>
>>323661607
Talking in extremes and repeating what you said in ebin greentext isn't really going to help you make your point. And what if the refund system is not officially meant for demos? Are you saying forcing people to buy pigs in a poke is good, especially considering the possible optimization problems when it comes to PC games? Do you actually think developers and publishers should be compensated for putting out shitty products?

Like I said, the only ones getting hurt by refunds are short, overpriced 2deep4u walking sims, AAA games with shitty PC ports and a bunch of triggered crazies who think they're "standing up for the little man" by speaking against a practice that has been the accepted norm in pretty much every other type of industry for years.

Fair enough, but every store, including steam, has rules and regulations for returns. And everybody takes advantage of loopholes to save a buck given the chance.

Indie devs have always had a silver spoon in their mouths when it comes to their games and their customers. If the market doesn't suit your needs, find another one; which they won't, because Steam, regardless how "shitty" indies claim it to be, boost the fuck out of their sales.

If steam is mad about the situation, maybe they should require demos, or just shut the fuck up and keep refunding.

I fucking loved demo discs when I was a kid. I didn't have the money to buy a lot of games, I could only afford buying something like 1 or 2 games at most every 6-7 months and that's all I had, so I ended up subscribing to gaming magazines. They came with free demo discs with all the new amazing games and sometimes they even had free games in them.

It was the shit, I spent so many hours playing the same segment of some games in the demos over and over and over again.
