I play Civ 5 to relax
Valleys of green forests, sparkling blue oceans
The soothing tones of the narrator
All turn based, there's no rush at all. Take as long as you like.

I begin to dislike it when a tornado and people stop breeding so im left with a village of 200 houses but only 19 villagers sonfqr between eacherother and eventually they all die and rot.

I thought everybody knew The Dark Eye. Shame they took the series into a Point & Click direction. Been ages since I played Drakensang though.
>>

It's very underrated. So much so that the company is kill. Only found that out after I pirated it.
>>
>>323537290
too bad I'm shit at the game and already behind AI before the classic era
and I know what I'm doing wrong: everything

I bought this game for comfy, all I feel is rage at my own lack of gaming skill
>>
>>323538916
>>323538835
I think many people didn't like the smaller scope of the games. It was never really about saving the world from an ancient evil etc.
The atmosphere is also a bit unusual.
It's like a lower magic high fantasy setting that manages to be light-hearted and "realistic" at the same time.
I really like it, but I can see how it would throw people of who're used to DnD
>>
>>323539282
It was a refreshing change for me from standard D&D and Star Wars scenarios in RPGs. Classes were a bit more in-depth as I remember, which I found great. It would really deserve another game.

What threw me off from buying the game is that it's one of those that NEVER go on sale on Steam. I have it in my wishlist for years, but it didn't even get a 10% discount. For its price, I can almost pick up a physical copy here, and I'm still too cheap for that.
>>
>>323539569
I actually bought the Gold Edition. I never played the expansion though, I heard it's pure garbage.
I also really liked that this game didn't fuck around. It's hard as balls at times.

Also, I can't say anything about the international voice actors, but the German voices are great.
>>
>>323539569
It's not on steam though.

Well, to cheer you up, I don't get the first Max Payne here in Germany, so there you go.

>>323540117
Neat, thanks. I'll play it in German though, since it's one of the few games where that's the original language.

Other than that, we only have economic simulations. Which is AMAZING. Nothing like playing Patrician 3 and bathing in its terrific voice acting.

>I play Civ 5 to relax
Last game I gave up trying to fight an inca with 1k+ gpt.
Even with the perfect choke I was struggling to keep his endless hordes at bay, hordes which were more advanced than I as well.
I think I needed to kill 50-100% more units per turn to actually stop him and I gave up.

ynaemp giant earth, and I edited to actually widen the andes so it's my fault.

Not a fan of big maps, especially if I forget to turn off barbarians, need to spam so many cities to fill in all the blank space because cities can only work so many tiles/the AI spams cities left and right too so war takes forever

I recently got back to playing A New Beginning more and have enjoyed the fuck out of it. Are any of the other newer game worth it at all? Really tempted to give Story of Seasons a try. Might have to replay Friends of Mineral Town too.

I like games where I can make a little town with a cute little pub or a black smith or a general store and upgrade it so I can better explore the dungeon under/around my town.

What are some games like this? They are the comfiest.

Soda Dungeon.
>>
>>323541515
That was worse in BE since you had an assload of production thanks to the overpowered trade routes.

Wasn't so bad in that civ5 game.
In civ2 it could get pretty bad and iirc the UI+hotkeys wer actually smoother in going through a lot of production in Civ2.

How is it? I'm trusting you anon. Do I need an internet connection for it? I don't need a data plan so I don't pay for it, so a lot of these games don't work for me
>>
>>323542625
>How is it?
Not particularly good. You send your minions out, you can click to attack or set them to auto. There's no reason to not use auto. You have to leave the game running while the dungeons are being hit so it's all the fun of an idler that you have to actively leave on which murders my phones battery life. It shouldn't require an active connection for anything. It's ad supported but you can cheat to get the cash needed to "buy out" the ads and turn them off. There's no end game to speak of, I'm at dungeon 10,000+ and the only thing there is to do is make your arbitrary numbers grow bigger so you can post them direct to reddit, facebook and twitter to compare to your friends big numbers.

So to everybody playing Banished: Don't you think that food is slightly overprioritised?

It always kind of bothers me that I start up banished and I just know that I'm going to spend all my time carving out forest areas and placing gatherers to sustain my village. It always ends up with me expanding arms into all flat terrain, but my main settlement growing at a snail's pace. The fact that fishermen produce about as much as they consume doesn't help, rendering some food gathering methods near useless. Thoughts?
>>
>>323541770
>Security and stability with that which threatens it closeby
perfect, this is why hiding in a comfy cottage at night on hardcore mode makes minecraft so enjoyably comf
>>
>>323543052
That was one of the bigger complaints about the game from many people. You can produce boatloads of food, but your city can only grow so fast. You get so used to having excess food that when you do eventually hit the point where your demand exceeds supply, you go into a panic and people begin dying. Eventually your population shrinks to the point where there aren't enough workers in the food production areas or other basic needs, and more people begin dying. I noticed the same thing with Planetbase (basically Banished in space).

Fishing depends on terrain. The more water tiles in the circle, the better your yield. I've seen screenshots of 2400+ before, but that was forever ago so it may have taken a balance patch and I don't have anything saved anymore

If you've just seen a screenshot, it may have been modded though, plenty of mods try to rebalance resource output.

>>323543225
It's not even so much the problem of people dying in the end, at least not for me, I always had a good handle on that (except for my first game, people were banging like there's no tomorrow). It's just that I seem so preoccupied with that shit that it gets a little boring.
