Sega probably don't want to risk it. The game would market itself, but if they fuck it up (which statistically is likely) they'd never be able to live it down, even moreso than the original

I'm a little more cautious about the 30th anniversary game. If they are actually going all out with classic sonic, if they fuck up the physics in the slightest then sonicfags will shit on the game. And if it's using classic sonic but doesn't play like the genesis games (2D), sonicfags will shit on it

All they need is to make a game without shit physics for once. Make steep inclines accelerate you down the slope. Make momentum not come to a dead fucking stop at random. Make jumping smooth.
This year is my last shot. Ignoring the new Olympics and Fire&Ice, if the mainstream Sonic game that comes out this year turns out to be awful, I will leave the Sonic fandom. I won't hate Sonic, I will only hate the current state.

You can always just listen and see if a Sonic game is good, and just buy the good ones. Since of course Sega's quality control isn't going to change. Either way, you need to stop looking forward to Sonic games. Just allow yourself to be pleasantly surprised when they work out.
