How do you prefer it? Facing towards the enemy or facing away from it?

I like it when the game trusts me to use cover without using a button to stick to it like a big retarded magnet
>>
Facing towards makes more sense. There's no reason for GoW guy to be able to see anything behind him.
>>
Away seems like it would make more sense
>inb4 muh realism
If i want to play as a soldier in a third person shooter, he better know how to cover like one

Oooh wow two opposing opinions

its typically incredibly cumbersome and feels clunky. oftentimes the cover system malfunctions and you stand up on some object (looking at you red orchestra 2).

I'd prefer the game just give me more than 3 stances (upright, crouched, prone) and let me choose how to use cover and concealment.

TLOU where I'm not forcibly glued to the wall.

>you can always tell new players because they use the cover system

its fine as basic mechanic, but games should not be designed around it.

Something that pops up every now and then. Wondering if I should suck a dick to try it out, but I'm not gay. I'm interested in it though.
>>
Literally the only way it should be used is the way Gears uses it in my opinion. In Gears it's moreso there to give you movement options instead of encouraging you to turtle.

Facing forward is a slavsquat.
Facing backward is a wallsquat.
Facing forward lets you see your enemies.
Facing backward can get you flanked.
Facing forward gives you the ability to easily aim and peek from cover.
Facing backward forces you to either blindfire or do a retarded "sidestep" completely out of cover.

despite the clunky cover system, i actually love the combat in RO2. 1 hit kills, sneaky russians. I just hate the lack of tank combat, stationary guns, and the shiny character models and

overuse of bloom
