But designing builds, creating your teams of heroes, hunting skills, doing dungeons and shit... god damn. So much fun. So good in so many ways. Solid music, pretty great graphics for its day, fun as fuck gameplay, amazing environment design (seriously, how fucking awesome is the Jade Sea? Walking on a beach with petrified sea spray, or across solidified waves, or down into a temple built in the center of a stone whirlpool).

No class is outright flavorless but Paragons are less necessary in general, Rangers are somewhat niche and could usually be fulfilled better by a hero, and other physical damage dealers/Eles are hindered in hard mode by armor value increases. Mesmer shutdown is very powerful and it's damage, in addition to having some of the highest numbers, is also armor-ignoring. But you have to learn how to use the mesmer because many skills are contingent on a cursory effect to activate. A necro does less armor ignoring damage but with conditions sprinkled in. They're a very capable class due to their primary attribute being THE BEST (and completely passive) energy management in the game.

They do start off in a different area, yes. But they can be ran to prophecies at a low level, however they'll unfortunately lag behind in XP since they don't get bonuses from a lot of the main story quests.

What I am mostly disappointed in is the fact that GW2's expansion was basically nothing. They worked for more than a year on it and I'm still baffled at how little of anything there was.

It's not a mmorpg, for starters, they called it a c(competitive or cooperative) rpg. Towns and cities were hubs wher you'd assemble your parties, but the actual areas were instanced. There was a dual-class system, allowing for a gazillion differnt builds and party compositions. You'd reach the level and item cap very quickly, and the endgame was basically cosmetics and getting rich

Hell I think the most memorable PvE part for me (based on memory not on what I like) is that one mission at night, where you can kinda go covert ops, you run left along the mountain walls, then uh, you do something something, then kill some faggot knight or paladin or whatever, and then run away.
Know what I'm talking about? Anyway, it scares me I can no longer remember these things despite being reasonably hardcore in that game. Literally all that remains clear is Halls. Lots, and lots, of Halls waiting for challengers.

Hardmode was something they added much later. Every single part of the map was updated for level 20 characters. Regions for level 20 characters were updated to be even harder. It was hard as fuck (as you might suspect), but the rewards were pretty great and you got the title of vanquisher for clearing all of the regions on a map.

He was hard to us, maybe we just sucked. He was accompanied by like 4 other dragons and some mooks, and he'd cast skills that punished you for attacking, that lifeleech one iirc
Hardmode was introduced somewhen later, and it was fucking amazing. Every single map and enemy got vamped up to be lvl20+, with new skillsets, drops and everything. Even the starter areas like old ascalon were lvl20+ versions now. Droprates were increased, too. You could vanquish areas as in killing every enemy in them, which gave you gold and exp iirc, and counted towards a vanquisher title. Ass the missions also got hardmode versions
