I was actually excited when got shots of his render with his staff. He would have looked the same, but more importantly his actions wouldn't be quite the same.
Then it was revealed he was just a straight clone and my feelings made a big 180. Dark Pit was a wasted opportunity, not with just his staff but with the rest of the Uprising armory they could have used to really mix things up between the two angels.
