Yes. Bloodborne plays differently from the other Souls games because of its faster combat and total lack of blocking.
If you decide to keep playing Souls games, I suggest playing Dark Souls 2 last, just as an FYI. It's a fine game but not near as good as Dark Souls 1 or Demon's Souls.

It was my first Souls game too, OP. If you have a PS4 already and/ or the funds + willingness to buy one, Bloodborne's a good game and it's not a bad place to start. You might eat shit for the first few hours while finding a balance between using yours invincibility frames and health regen and playing safe, but you'll get good at it faster than you might think.
