No more pirated games in two years, according to hacking group.

>The founder of notorious Chinese cracking forum 3DM is warning that given the current state of anti-piracy technology, in two years there might be no more pirate games to play. The claims come after attempts to breach the Denuvo security protecting Just Cause 3 pushed the group's cracking expert to breaking point.

>>
>>322987949
This is something interesting to talk about but the last thread of this was just nonstop infinite shitposting.

Is there a monetary reason why all games don't use denuvo? Or is it just devs waiting for proven effectiveness before everyone decides to use it?
>>
>>322987949
I bet 3DM didn't even say that at all.
>>
>>322988839

>Is there a monetary reason why all games don't use denuvo?

Yeah, it's expensive. Notice that with maybe a small handful of exceptions, all the games using Denuvo were AAA big time releases. Anyone who isn't a huge AAA publisher isn't going to spend big bucks on a Denuvo.
>>
>>322988839
It's a new tech, so developers are only starting to use now. I can see it becoming more popular in the coming years
>>
I think pirating is a meme on /v/

Sellouts, the people who make this software are ex-crackers. Kids better than them will rise up, same as they did against the older corporate stooges that tried to prevent things with securom, etc.

>>

>>
>>322989930
It should be bad for PR if they actually said that and someone manage to crack their games, so of course they're gonna be modest. I'm still pessimistic, though, since I'm not gonna buy JC3
>>
>>322989862

Considering the shills on /v/, they apparently expect that.

Piracy has always and will always exist. Every time some new "invincible" solution comes along, some group steps up and blows it wide open. Sometimes it takes a while (Chaos Theory wasn't cracked for an entire 12 months), but it always happens to games that aren't entirely server-side.

Denuvo is merely the latest spectacle.

In our great immersive history of videogames and consoles, piracy has never died. Ever. Ever. Ever. Ever.

WHAT THE FK
>>
>>322987949

holy fallacy batman!

Given an infinite frame of time, any encryption algorithm can be brute forced. Its especially easy given the nature of DRM, since the attacker has access to basically all the information they want, its just a matter of being a good code breaker.
>>
I wonder who will Crack Just Cause 3
>>
>>322990496
because it's digital media

back in the day os cartridges you could finish a game, lent it to a friend, and then sell it for some dosh, get new games

Nowadays you can't do that anymore, pirating isn't worse than lending games to your friends, it's just that digital distribution gets a bit crazy, but in the long run it doesn't hurt the industry.

Actually, they cause more harm.

A pirate might go buy a copy of a game he pirated. Discounted maybe, but still a new copy that sends some money to the developers. A used game purchaser is only giving money to the middleman, and none of it goes to the developers. And because the used version has all the features of the new one, they'll never buy a new copy of the game.

DIABLO 3 REMAINS UNCRACKED

If devs want their games to be uncrackable they just need to do what blizzard did with Diablo 3, yeah it's online only, but hey it's uncrackable, everyone should do that if they want their game to be pirate free.
>>
>>322989195

>a game with constant online remains uncracked!
well no shit
>>
>>322990618
>Given an infinite frame of time, any encryption algorithm can be brute forced.
Well we don't exactly have an infinite amount of time.

The real fallacy of DRM is giving a machine that you have no control over, both the program and the key to that program, and expecting that it's pirate-proof. You can't do it. It's like taping the key to the back side of a lock and thinking that defeats piracy because you've only told legitimate buyers where the key is hidden. Everyone else will figure it out too, it's just a matter of time.
>>
>>322990405
>They're both still playable
Not exactly, people are using steam share to play Batman nowadays because the crack fucking sucks
>>
So a bunch of chinks throw in the towel. There will ALWAYS be someone who will pick up the slack.
>>
>>322991049
lmao

Pirates never buy a game that took for free. They either pirate it and play it for 5 minutes and never touch it again or fully complete it and never buy it. Used games = giving money to retail = retail can order more shipments of games = publisher gets paid

Pirate scum are degenerate and you and your buttfucking buddies have never bought something you already got for free.
>>
i havent pirated a game in soooooo long. can't even remember the last one.
does Artificial Academy count?
>>
>>322991134
Publishers and devs do not see money from used sales, that's why for awhile they had codes that unlocked on disc content if you bought new, if you bought used you had to buy that code yourself. They got rid of that but now they have dlc, pre-order bonuses, and micro transactions now. Thanks used game buyers for killing the industry.
>>
I always get cracked up with how long some people are willing to wait for a game to be cracked.

>"Its ok, I can wait to get the game free"
>"ONLY TOOK A WEEK, PC GAMING WINS AGAIN!"
>"ONLY TOOK A MONTH, PC GAMING WINS AGAIN!"
>"ONLY TOOK A YEAR, PC GAMING WINS AGAIN!"
>"ONLY TOOK FIVE YEARS, PC GAMING WINS AGAIN!"

At this rate, these people will be long dead before they finish what, 1/10th of their actual backlog?

>Old pirate anon, dying in hospital due to natural causes
>"My only wish, was that I could live just 10 more years to see Just Cause 3 cracked so I could play it."
>He dies.
>>
>>322991272
>Implying the chinks aren't the best at this autistic shit
>>
>>322991212

Right, thats what I said. The attacker has the algorithm, the cipher, the key, and the plaintext (since cracked games are obviously reverse-engineered from a genuine copy)
>>
>>322991246

All I know is that I played the full game to completion without paying or using steam share, so I could actually care less. The patch didn't save the game from the tank sections.

>>322991330

>Pirates never buy a game that took for free
I could post all the evidence that proves you wrong, but at this point you aren't even trying
>Used games = giving money to retail = retail can order more shipments of games = publisher gets paid
Retail orders based on demand for new games, not what the usedfags are buying. Your buying of used games only fuels greater shipments of Call of Duty and FIFA.

>>322991408
I gotta admit people are getting really good at baiting here

>>322990648
I cracked the case open after buying it and finished the whole thing in less than a week. It is piss easy, and the story isn't even fun. It tries way to hard to be serious, but quirky at the same time and it just makes all the characters completely unlikable the only guy that was funny was David Tennant. It isn't worth downloading. I just saved you money and bandwidth. I promptly returned it to the store. A real shame since I had tons of fun with Mad Max.

>>
Why do people pretend that piracy doesnt exist on consoles?

I pirated way more games on my flashed 360, than I ever have on my PC.
>>
>>322991419
Sometimes, if I don't see torrents, I just skip the game. Nothing to do with pirating. Just a filter, indicator of on the games quality. If no one is talking/playing it. At least among the type of people I like, it means the game was shit.

I know this isn't the logical conclusion you're are suppose to come to, but it works. Turns out, most of those games not getting pirated are pretty shit. (because again, they weren't 'cool' enough to get cracked in the first place. Why buy it?)
>>
>>322991653
Yep! It is that exactly. I like the idea of taking over bases and making them mine, but Christ the game is piss easy. You can use your default weapons and to take everything. The fun factor dies pretty damn early.
>>
>>322991932
So, you are saying that, if cracking Denuvo games ends up taking longer and longer, then evenutally, people are going to either just give up on the game becoming free, or just go out and buy it already?

Good for jews, bad for actual people.
>>
>>322991690
Yeah but multiple copies of the same game get sold used, not just one. So those used games reach just as many, if not more people since it is legal and that eliminates any fear of going to jail. Used games are literally more harmful then pirating.
>>
>>322992119

>Why do people pretend that piracy doesnt exist on consoles?

Because piracy on consoles takes slightly more effort, and the average consolefag is still convinced that every torrent is a chinese bitcoin mining virus.

Of course it doesn't, but the less communication with the server, the easier is to crack it. If d3 for example had a fog system similar to dota, you wouldn't be able to maphack at all, especially if the map generation is always random and it can't be predicted. Just an example.
Or for example if you are playing an "always online" fps and you just need to signal the server, that's easily crackable.

That is assuming people won't already go ballistic over the no mods thing.

Basically. Most denuvo games require way higher specs than should be necessary. Its been a consistent theme that games with denuvo run like shit on all but the most powerful PCs.

So ironically most users (which don't have super PCs) won't even be playing games with denuvo. And steam has refunds now so go figure.

So thats why mgs5 runs so bad right?
>>
Eh, MGS5 was made by a competent asian developer team.

The SJW hambeasts making shit like Bamham Knight, Asscreed: Transyndicate, Dragon Age 3 and Just Cuz or whatever other AAA shit is using Denuvo were only hired because they have vaginas not because they have any legitimate technical skill. Add their ineptitude on top of Denuvo demanding resources then you have a bad recipe.

MGS5 has such low requirements that the added overhead doesn't matter, this is not true of most other games.
>>
>OMG PIRATED GAMES WILL BE NO MORE
Uh definitely not. People act like it has become impossible now lmao, which is definitely never going to be the case.

Nothing is feasibly impossible.

My PC can't run anything made after 2002 for the most part so I give no fucks.

MGS5 is on last gen consoles anon... Clearly anyone can run it.
