I played it for the harem factor, the game is slightly balanced by still pretty grindy, they fixed a lot of shit like giving you the digilab replacing the dumb return to your pc to digivolve, they do give you two digimon and one item to help grind for EXP, early boss fights are damage sponges, until you start fighting Eaters, and the only fun boss fights are Lucemon and Omegamon with Alphamon and Dukemon.

Adventure 02 is garbage.
Tamers is bretty gud if you can forgive its animation, because it's a kid's show made by the Japanese equivalent of Jews.
I don't even remember what the fourth one was called, but the kids all turned into Digimon like it was a sentai show, and it was fucking retarded.
Savers was okay. Pretty bog standard shonen but it served its purpose. Also the main character digivolved his Agumon by punching shit.
Xros Wars was a break from the usual sort of formula, no Digivolutions and everything gets stronger by fusing. It's okay, but not on Tamers tier. Avoid the dub at all costs unless you're really fucking desperate for Vic Mignogna in your life.
And Tri is pretty much a sequel to the one you watched as a kid so you may enjoy that, but the animation is iffy and only four "episodes" or one movie is out so far.

I don't see why not. One of many things that make Digimon different from Pokémon is that every show and game is a self-contained continuity unless it says otherwise. There will be a few species you don't recognize (though the bulk of Cyber Sleuth's roster is a decade old), but no prior knowledge is needed.
This lets you avoid getting bogged down in background lore and power levels, but encourages genwunners. I've seen someone on this very board say Masaru is a bad character BECAUSE he doesn't wear goggles and no other reason!
