Slap as many mission objectives on it as you like, you're still fundamentally pointing, shooting and avoiding fire. Back in the day, we thought games would evolve. I can really only have fun playing vidya when I'm playing with other people these days. It helps to be able to talk to people and show others things about the game they didn't know about and what not.
