>They took out my SRW characters for fucking CHROM AND LUCINA
I'm still mad.
At least we got Phoenix.
>>322407225
the roster for these games change all the time. They change in SRW, and they changed between NxC and PxZ 1. It's not a surprise.
>no SRW reps
DROPPED
Fuck Nintendo and fuck Fire Emblem
>>322408873
how did it take you this long to figure that out when we had threads and info about the full roster for months.
>>322407225
>no Valkyria Chronicles reps
>>322407225
>>322408873
>SRWfags not knowing about characters being dropped
also what are the chances of them being dropped for localization purposes
Who cares. We have Hotsuma.
Thanks for reminding me that sakura taisen is dead and we'll never get the games translated
>no SRW
>no Hsien Ko
>no Arthur
I mean sure the overall roster is actually pretty great but they cut some of my favorites man, it hurts.
>no Valkyria Chronicles reps
>awakening shitters
>>322409369
If it's any consolation, that pug still lives.
SEGATA
SANSHIROOOOOO
>>322407225
Wait Lucina is in this game?
Is it any good?
>>322410343
>Segata and Axel from Street of Rage are assist only
FUCK YOU BAMCO AND SEGA!

I wasn't expecting them to top the first one.

>>322410980
Yep, she is. Most would say she has a better moveset in here than in Smash, but that's a whole different can of worms for another thread.
>>322410980
The first one wasn't very good, game wise.
If you like most of the characters in the game, then it'd probably be a fun play just for that.
>>322411334
One's an action game and the other's a SRPG. Comparing movesets between the two is like comparing apples and beef.
>>322407225
this is my 2016 goty
i need it but im sad theres no srw or vc
>>322407225
I'm just happy we got a sequel and that it's heading west. Guess they want to draw more nintendo fans.
>>322407225
on the other hand the game still has ulala in it for no reason so it's 10/10

It seems they are catering more towards the west with this one, so it seems odd to exclude Welkin, Alicia and Selvaria
>>322407225
Does this have playable idols?

Fuck off Miura!
>Panders to the West for this one

This still confuses me. At least we got Leon, Phoenix, Strider and based Segata.
>>322413974
>not playing the best game in the series even though it's on the psp
Why?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rRofephEYTE
There's fewer units than the previous game, but I can see it as a necessary loss. The first game got way too fucking ridiculous with the enemy unit count/time taken to finish one map so having a smaller roster might be one of many steps taken to avoid hitting that problem as hard.
>>322413974
You know the sequels IMPROVE on the gameplay, right? You know, the most important part of the game as opposed to artstyle?
>>322414881
Sad, that Haken/Kaguya got cut. Still excited for this game though.
>>322414917
The fact that it's on the PSP is automatically why the game is NOT the best in the series, even before all the more subjective reasons.
the only VC game worth playing is the original one
>>322414976
Haken and Kaguya were cool, yeah. A lot of cool characters were cut.
Neat how PxZ1 had a lot of zombie slayers, and how 2 has a lot of ninjas though. Anyone know if there's a chapter where they focus on the martial artists/ninjas?
>>322415114
It's the best even though it's on the PSP. That's how much better it is than the first.
If you want to give yourself excuses to not play good games then be my guest.
>>322407225
>Not even Marth or Ike, but fucking Chrom and Lucina
FE is dead to me
They are trying the game in the west, the west is the only reason it got a sequel.
>>322414976
>You know the sequels IMPROVE on the gameplay, right?
>Maps are way smaller and broken up into fronts, and there are less of them, because of disk space and memory issues which COMPLETELY changes the game balance and strategy and not for the better. People rag on VC1 for scouts being OP but the sequels are full of way more broken shit, both because of the maps being way shorter and simply by design.
>Because of space issues resulting in there being less maps the game makes you do missions in the same areas over and over again.
>Introduced grinding
>Introduced a bunch of gimmick classes instead of actually expanding on the original games gameplay and making it work better.
>Not permadeath/generic soliders for people that want to challenge themselves, meaning there's nothing stopping you from playing like complete shit and progressing through the game (which is unacceptable in a strategy game)
The best game in the series is VC1 on PC before they fixed the 60 FPS bugs that made enemy soliders shoot twice as fast. That shit is actually really tactical especially if you lay on other handicaps like generic soliders and no upgrades
The psp games are just a bunch of fucking busywork and skinner boxes broken up with frankly insulting anime bullshit. They were not made by the original team that made the first one (and a bunch of classic sega games) and the difference is obvious.
Go fuck yourself.
>>322415471
They said they were surprised how well it sold in the US, which is crazy.
I bought it day 1 and all, but I expected it to fail miserably (like it did in JP)
>>322415393
>why aren't two unrelated mascots in a tag team game in place of a character duo from the fire emblem game where pairing up is a gameplay mechanic
Advanced idiocy.
>Reiji and Xiaomu is still there
They really like them, don't they?
Also I want another Tales rep, probably Xillia? Oh well.
>>322415897
>better characters and each character gets their own mission that gives them more characterization
>more customization options and equips
>trimmed down the classes from VC2 and made more useful classes
>no scout rushing and more balance overall
>complaining about anime in VC
VC1 is scout rush the game. It has very little tactical depth.
VC3 is the best one. Get over it.
>>322416646
>VC3 is the best one. Get over it
NO WESTERN RELEASE
Explain to me why the best game doesn't get a western release when it's the best?Cause I really want to play it.
>>322407225
>Nintendo, Namco, Sega and Capcom crossover
I'm really liking the partnership between these guys.
>>322414396
Chihaya and Takane are love.
>>322416646
>"improved gameplay" means more characterization and more customization
go fuck yourself, you can't scout rush in the unpatched PC version and even in the other versions of VC1 you can only scout rush with end game equipment/orders and alica
VC1 being unbalanced doesn't mean VC3 isn't MORE unbalanced. all shocktroopers and fencers need to do to be op as fuck in that game is exist because their single weakness (low movement) is rendered moot by how the PSP games break up the levels into small chunks
>>322417261
Passable fantranslation and easily to emulate.
>>322417414
VC1 is incredibly unbalanced. I don't know how you can argue that VC3 isn't more balanced unless you haven't played it.
The maps being broken up is what nerfs scouts, not their size since it'll still take you turns to get to the other side. Having broken maps also adds depth to the strategy since you'll have to manage AP across separate squads that are isolated from each other. A push and pull that has been improved upon from the first game.
>fencers
>OP
>"I haven't played VC3, but will act like I know about the game" the post.
Just stop.
Haven't they said 8 million times in interviews that they are improving the mob spawning and other shit people complained about?
>>322407225
Which one is the actual cover for this anyways?
>>322418296
They are. All the changes to the system I'm aware of seem tangentially related to map length.
>assaults limited to three attacks to cut down on time spent doing those
>charge up bonus encourages finishing foes with fewer hits as opposed to using all you can on every enemy
>points can be spent between maps to increase the attack power of moves, thereby reducing the time taken to finish enemies
>counterattacks allow for three attacks by default now
>XP can go past 100 whenever with no tricks involved
>characters now use skills with their own individual SP, leaving XP free to use on special and multi attacks
>turn order is now done in player and enemy phases and you can have your units go in whatever order you choose like in Fire Emblem/Super Robot Wars
There's no telling how much effect it can truly have on the typical map length, but all of this does add up to what should be a smoother pace for the most part.
>>322417414
Well, allow me to retort.
While the bigger maps in VC1 are cool, thing is they favor scouts since your other units can't get anywhere near as fast and your scouts have enough firepower to take out most things in the game WITHOUT orders. And I'm sure we can both agree the other part of what made VC1 unbalanced in the first place is the scoring system which is 95% based on time.
Another thing is, while the maps are indeed smaller, your scouts are still better at their job as recon (at least until you get the commandos in 2 and even then, you'll still more than likely be using your scout elites).
And I'll agree, that the grinding in 2 was fucking ridiculous. The different classes were a cool concept, just not executed well because getting those credits were a bitch (especially the certificates and diplomas).
>>322419563
>And I'm sure we can both agree the other part of what made VC1 unbalanced in the first place is the scoring system which is 95% based on time
Is this fixed in VC3? I like to go at a slower pace and kill every guy I see and not just run past them and cap a point for an easy win. But if I do that I don't get upgrades, at least in VC1.
>>322420061
Unfortunately, no. It seems the scoring system in all of the VC games are 95% based on time. You'll get some negligible bonues for killing the ace (though you do get a good weapon or plans for a good weapon), tanks or leaders. You also get a very negligible penalty if more than 1 squad mate gets ko'ed.
>>322420061
Not entirely. You get judged based on more things now, so being fast isn't what makes the S rank anymore.
Doing good at the game will give the rewards.
>>322417275
I'm not

>>322420061
Depends, slowly clearing out a well fortified position will always lose to flanking through another area, but either way, the answer will never be to buff a scout and run them through. You will have to clear a path. If you kill everyone and everything, your score will still drop, but go ahead and play it how you like. I doubt it would affect your experience much.
>>322416302
the whole thing started with them in NamcoXCapcom. They're the experts on this kind of thing since the games are all related to each other.
That and Kogoro and Mii weren't really well received
>>322420626
Not the person you're replying to, but there's no doubt that scouts are top tier in all of the games.
I'm just happy that they took measures to stop them from being so broken. Things like the separate maps, taking more interception damage and making end game enemies ones that you don't want to approach as a scout.
>>322421123
Yeah, VC3 is easily the most balanced of the three games.
>At least we got Phoenix
As a fucking assist
>could have had DK and Diddy, a much more famous and atypical tag team duo
>could have had Mario and Luigi, the actual Nintendo mascots, or alternatively, Mario and Yoshi

>frankly insulting anime bullshit
The first game was as "anime" as the others. It even had a fucking twin-tailed tsundere idol and girls that went Super Saiyan and shot lasers out of their swords in a setting where everyone else had WWI-era tech.I agree on every other point though.
>>322407225
>Haseo and Aty

I'm annoyed that Phoenix wright and maya are assists even if they are a duo unit
>>322423324
What does it even matter in this game? They're playable units regardless.
>>322407225
Guess they gotta ease people into more Nintendo for the third one.
>>322423324
Well, let's not forget that Tron Bonne and the Servbots were a similar case last game and they were techincally a full unit in the very first game in the series.
>>322423324
Isn't Ryo Hazuki an assist as well?
Any word on a Special / Limited Edition yet or are we just not getting the OST in the west this time around?
>>322410994
>>322421812
>>322423324
Technically they're called Solo Units. Assists are when another unit is adjacent to the attacker on the map and can join in the combo. I don't see why being a solo unit's even bad in a game where you only ever see one person per squad on the map at any given time anyways.
>>322423938
Guessing we won't get any info until it's closer to release. It does release next month if Gamefaqs is correct.
>no Beat
>no Vyse

They're much popular SEGA humanoids.
>>322407225
I'm confused why they're using Vergil and Nelo Angelo as separate characters. I also wish we could have gotten Trish or Nero as solo units but it's whatever.
>>322424009
I know its not bad, i wish to control them on board tho
>>322424707
Yeah but you can stick them with any other pair unit in the game. If anything I feel bad for the secondary character in a pair. They don't show up on map and you don't get to set them however you please.
>>322424562
Dimensional rifts and time-travel shenanigans, Anon.
>>322422883
There's a point where anime bullshit becomes too much and 2 has clearly passed that point.
3 looks alright though.
