I like it a lot, even though it somehow fails to keep me motivated for more than 2h in a session.
Art is great, soundtrack is great and the levels are quite clever, although it took the game a while to ramp up the "difficulty" (for lack of a better word) to a degree that felt satisfying.
The 30fps hub world always feels a bit jarring and I can't help but think that they'd only have to remove the excessive and unnecessary DoF.
I blame my lack of motivation to play it for prolonged amounts of time on my general oversaturation with platformers.
My gf even gave me a woolly yoshi amiibo for christmas. I hate amiibos and everything they stand for, but this little fucker is just too damn cute

How is the level design "factually worse?" To me it feels very similar to YI, sprinkled with a bit of the more intuitive design aspects of YS (the nature of hiding some items and how some hiding spots utilize a less linear path through a level). I haven't had to shove too many walls to find everything so far, extra stages included (I'm in world 5 at the moment).
What specifically makes the game worse, in your opinion?

But I'd insist that they are all quality titles in their own right. Nintendo's just extremely focused on playing it safe these days. What worked once works twice.
The games still have a ridiculous amount of polish and attention to detail and Nintendo gets way too little credit for that.
