PixelJunk games don't all suck.
There are some pretty great indie games and developers, but they need to get over calling themselves "indie", since it doesn't really matter to anyone but them.

It went that way because designing games is difficult, and is now a lost art.
Much like traditional animation after the introduction of Flash, and musical composition after DAWs became affordable to the masses.
