The reveal was a yawnfest. I know this because I was watching it. It was around 1 hour 40ish minutes, the YouTube version was cut to around 40 minutes to cut out all the shots of people being unimpressed and actually yawning on camera. After the wet fart that was WoD, this expansion looks LESS promising than WoD pre-release.
As with usual Blizz releases, content will get reduced in size and quality as we near the launch date. There are so many different options out there, but of course you'll have the 'hardcore' crowd who will shout you down for not having a perfect endgame that does *everything* WoW does but better.I haven't touched MMOs since WoD's launch and hellfire citadel.

Artifacts are one of the best things being added to WoW, but I wholeheartedly agree that using major lore weapons and giving them to everyone is stupid. i was hyped during the announcements, it was all pretty cool ideas. unfortunately i think blizzard have a problem with actually implementing ideas into WoW without first making them a boring waste of fucking time.
so far i'm left only really interested in PvP which is weird because i've never been a huge PvP'r. you get cool skins, classes have lost having every type of ability and have weaknesses now, separate talent selection for like trinket effects seems good for balance, and ilvl only gives like ~.1% power instead of ~1% power per ilvl. oh and cawadooty prestige mode of course.

I think having your weapon grow alongside you and give you choices on how to build it that can very much change your leveling playstyle is pretty damn neat, actually. That doesn't work, people want progression. They want to get stronger and fight bigger enemies every expansion. Mists and Draenor were expansions where they TRIED keeping the power level down and doing side stories, and they always came back to it by the second patch because that disappoints people.
Mists was supposed to be the "adventure" expansion where things besides raids mattered but they needed to hype enemies up so we got Lei Shen and Garrosh got some old god juice in him.
WoD was supposed to end with an ideological battle against Grommash but they probably felt they needed to go the big Legion way and had you beat up an eredar instead of some orc.

N'zoth was involved with Neltharion going BURN THE GOBBOS TOTAL ANNIHILATION NAO and the Emerald Nightmare, so he has yet to be dealt with. There is also the Old God that's in the ocean, somewhere. And lastly, the Puzzle Box mentions a giant black rook. Now, it could be talking about N'zoth. That's possible. I mean, the goat with 7 heads was Ysaarj. But it could also be a sixth one, and there's no telling what the fuck is under Tirisfal.
I agree that the focus of making you a STONE COLD BADASS COMMANDER CHOSEN ONE is total hockshit, but thankfully, I can ignore the quest text and just put my own context into it.

I sunk more time into SW:G and CoH. I don't consider all that time wasted though, just like I don't consider the time I spent in WoW wasted.
I don't play WoW because of some sunken cost fallacy, I've honestly spent more on F2P games I haven't touched in years. I play because I like it and I manage to find some fun in it despite the game being 10 years old.
I wish they would just make an entirely new game though with a new engine. There's only so much that can be done with the WC3 engine.

Yet another error is tying the last raid, which lasts by far more than the other raids, to the next expansion so close. Like siege of orgrimmar was a preview for WoD, HFC and tanaan is a preview of legion.

I started in early 2005. Vanilla was great, but the same kind of people who act like it was perfect or flawless sound like nostalgiafags and given the small percentage of people who actually did progression raids also sound like trendy liars, because if you were even in that small percentage of players and remember early raids it wasn't 100% perfect. That had a lot to do with the shit way stats were balanced and how gear was itemized early on.
Also, the early graphics are dogshit versus what they can do now. I don't mog any armor pre-Wotlk.
