If FExSMT has a great battle system then I think people would admit it, but the game looks like alienating weeb trash outside of that, so a lot of people won't even care to give it a shot. FFX-2 was a sequel, many people gave it a shot that otherwise would not have given a fuck about the game if it was not a sequel to FFX, a game that doesn't feature any of the idolshit you are picking on.
Not only that, the opening scene in FFX is one small part of the game and you never have to do or see anything like it for the rest of the game. FExSMT on the other hand seems to put a focus on the weeb idolshit front and center, and fully embrace it as the focus of the game.
