I think I enjoyed playing as Ikaruga a lot more than the other Hanzo girls.
I never unlocked the Crimson Squad though, are they available by default in EV? Mirai seems like she'd be fun to play as.

Crimson can be played right off the bat, however the story mode isn't one per school anymore, it's one single continuity with all four schools mixed in at once.
The 3 festival girls are unlocked early on, the other two characters are unlocked towards the end.
