Nah, the spin-off/licensed ones tend to be get actual sequels not the XL or Empires spinoffs. This is the first licensed Musou I can think of with an XL version.

I haven't played Hyrule Warriors, but I think I know what you're referring to. The running lore bit about Mako and Shad having books right? I think the reason he's deconfirmed though is because he's already dead.
So, most of the screenshots they've shown of the new story have been from the Wii U version, does this mean that unlocking the characters with the 3ds version also unlocks the missions or it will be a separate dlc?
Would I just be better off getting Legends? I want to play it in HD, but I don't want to pay for the same game, twice.

I feel like every Dynasty Warriors post 4 has Empires and XL editions.
Hyrule Warriors is my first DW style game and I'm really enjoying it.
I'm playing through Legend mode in co-op while doing the Adventure mode stuff when the person I'm doing the co-op with is playing something and it's fantastic. I just wish the framerate didn't shit the bed with 2 players but I'm still having fun.
I'm really beginning to feel the Rupee/Skill wall in Adventure mode though. I just did the Adventure Mode Square "Defeat the Cliff Beast" (the one where the second dungeon is located in LoZ) and I struggled like hell with it.
I'm guessing that other than the initial set of levels, I shouldn't focus too hard on getting A-Ranks until I've leveled up a lot and have gotten some better equipment?

Finishing legend mode first is the best thing to do before beginning Adventure mode since you'll at least have a high level link with an okay weapon to use on harder levels. Everyone else you just have to grind out through the map.

All I want is Kafei with the Great Fairy Sword, several of the utility masks like the Blast Mask and Bremen Mask and Katon Mask that allow him to control enemies and summon Keatons and blow shit up at close range, and his Musou Attack to be the Couple's Mask where he and Anju destroy enemies with the power of their love.
