Is this the year of Pikmin 4? Or have they postponed it due to the failure of the Wii U?

I want caves and real-life objects back. I'd also like the new game to be longer, and have online battle mode so I can actually play it. I really loved playing Bingo Battle on 3 with my sister but we had a falling-out so I can't play it anymore.
>>
I want a Flying Waterwraith boss

How do you guys rank the games?]

I have all 3 but, haven't played 2 yet.

3 > 1 for sure though.
>>
>>322259242
I like 2 more, I loved the dank atmosphere of the caves. The ambient music is surprisingly charming.

I really want a night hard mode. You can choose to stay up after dark to save any lost Pikmin, but, the night gets stupid hard with a bunch of enemies waking up. Red bulborbs are constantly awake and a bunch of enemies only found in caves show up above ground. You can collect all the bodies and treasure for the next day, and subsequently lower the amount of days you can complete the game in.

But I really want the Piklopedia back.

I've always been a fan of the Man-at-Legs, fantastic enemy design for the second game.

You really need to. There's no real consensus on the games, but most people I've seen agree that 2 is probably the best in the series, some going so far as to say "one of the greatest games of all time that no one ever talks about." I wouldn't go so far as to say that, but take it as you will.

2 is definitely the most different in the series, and I'd say the most challenging and engaging. A lot of people might disagree due to the lack of time limit, but when I think of a game's difficulty I generally think of the individual challenges within the levels.

Keep it out of this thread fags.

I want Pikmin 4 to heavily focus on colonisation and exploration of the planet. You play as Olimar and Louie and have a rival team of captains with their own Pikmin from their own rival corporation. The president turns his company into a Xenobiology company and orders you to document every creature you can on the world and collect treasure to finance your expedition. If you don't collect enough treasure you have to bug out leaving your rivals to get back home to Hocotate with a big Nobel prize.
>>
>>322261642
WiiU is a failure, they're already shelving it, as opposed to the Wii which lasted much longer, and was less powerful than the competition too.

Nintendo clearly sees it as one, which is what matter because they'll cut down support just like they did with the Wii.

>>
>you have to grind new pikmin
Nah, this mechanic is dull, I want this out
It's fine to grow your very first pikmin of a given color involving a puzzle, but then the game should automatically generate a little as the days progress.
It's also fine to trade time for pikmin if you killed them. Still get punished for mistakes, but it's not the same shitty pikmin grind.

Mind I have not played 3 yet so this post could be obsolete, but that's what I hated about the first two games.
>>
I hope they introduce a functioning Ecosystem in pikmin 4.

In previous games everything just sits around waiting for you to come interact with it, I want to see a function foodchain where the animals are actually hunting eachother and breeding.
>>
It may be just like ZeldaU, it will get a "ultra HD" version on the NX for some of that sweet double dipping those jews are so fond of.

What matters is that the game lasts longer than 10 hours this time around. Hopefully.

Honestly this would be one of the best things they could ever do, but I can't see how it would work unless the entire planet was depicted in one giant, inter-connected open world map.
>>
>>322264267
Are there enemies who obtain new powers depending on what pikmin they eat?

That would also be cool. Some world interaction happening in general, since the games focus on nature.
>>

>le git gud xD
>for pikmin
Let's keep the soulsfag mentality out of this thread

>you can only have enemy interactions if the map is connected
Monster Hunter has tiny ass areas and it has plenty of things of this kind, how are the two related in any way
>>
>>322264127
To be fair the grinding is there so you need to manage time and resources between exploring and harvesting. If you got pikmin for free you'd never have to worry about getting more, and once you hit the population cap for each you never have to worry about it anyway.
>>
>>322264536

It would be neat to have some "top of the foodchain" predators on some of the maps who evolve according to what they eat.

They could have certain territories, and they would hunt whatever wanders around in them(they could even introduce a migrating mechanic for creatures to move around the map).

That way it would be a strategic decision to try and tackle those predators before they became too strong or ate the right kind of critters to evolve and fuck you up.

I'm just saying you shouldn't have to spend much time gathering pellets and bringing back creature corpses at all if things go well.

>Monster Hunter has tiny ass areas and it has plenty of things of this kind, how are the two related in any way

Having a functioning semi-realistic eco-system and food chain is not the same as just allowing enemies to fight each other. If the game was still broken up into smaller maps with as few enemies as prior Pikmin games have had in each of the overworld levels, I doubt such a thing could be simulated to any reasonable degree.

Whats a good way to go play Pikmin 1 and 2? I remember playing the fuck out of Pikmin 1 when I was a kid around age 8-9ish I believe. I was just old enough to comprehend what the fuck I was doing but not old enough to do it super well but I still beat the game.

I played it on my sister-in-law's gamecube 5 years ago and enjoyed it still. Now as a 22 year old I desire to beat the series. I own Pikmin 3 digitally so I just need 1-2.

Thanks for any help.

>>
>>322266718
Dolphin is probably the only free way to beat it, but it requires a decent CPU.

Otherwise, hit up craigslist and look for people selling gamecubes. They usually have pikmin 1 or 2 there.
>>
>>322266887
Other than it just being nice to have. Do I really NEED the 60 fps hack? I can live without it, I'm not much of a stickler for that sort of thing though I prefer it. Yeah, I've seen pricey ass copies at video game shops i see here and there.

>>322266959
Yeah I have Dolphin since I wanted to play some game when I was a kid about capturing monsters in cards and shit and using them to fight other monsters. Never got around to finding the game and now the name is lost to me.

Will playing Pikmin 1 and 2 on a Wii be fine? Not those shitty remakes with the motion controls. I mean just putting the gamecube discs in the WIi.

No you don't need it, neither of the original games were 60 FPS due to the limitations of the Gamecube, but it isn't very difficult to get it working. There is a youtube tutorial on how to do it, it takes like 3 minutes and it definitely improves the games.

Pikmin's lore is probably one of the greatest lore in video games. Phone cords are still there and intact so that must mean humans haven't been gone long, but that doesn't make sense because there are different kind of species everywhere and you need a lot of time for different animals to mutate and evolve. I don't know, it's cool to think about though.

It's part of the story. Why would the explorers spend their time on the planet when they have to make sure the seeds are properly being grown

Then you have shittaste, happens. Was my first Pikmin. Played it for two minutes and already noticed the 10/10 gameplay.

It helps when you play many non-Nintendo games that always have piss-poor shit gameplay compared to Nintendo. Even Little King's Story, although it's a much better game in generall due to variety, weird shit, OST, art, content, sims stuff.

Pikmin 3 was fucking excellent despite not being as good as the first two.

>Although ambiguous, PNF-404 is at least very Earth-like with similar geography. In an interview with Shigeru Miyamoto, he states that PNF-404 is in a state where humans are extinct.

There are no humans in the Pikmin games. Unfortunate, but very interesting regardless.
