I'm a seasoned player of the Souls franchise, and as you all know, the Souls franchise is considered to be the pinnacle of challenging video gaming and usually only expert players can get through it. I consider myself one of those expert players so I can safely label this game as overly difficult for no reason. It doesn't even give you a chance to avoid some of the attacks. I'm currently in the high rank and I keep getting one shot by these beams from Akantor and Ukanlos. I mean, at least I got to the highest rank before having these issues but it's literally impossible to dodge these beams and the Tigrex spinning attack that one shots me.

It is not literally impossible, but it does require a lot more patience and skill. And higher ranked hunts are tuned for full groups of 4 hunters, so you are at a severe disadvantage.

Lance. Evade lance specifically. I liked the stygian zinogre a lot.
I started a second character completely ranged oriented and cheesed low rank solo easily, then I got in high rank and was able to solo everything even at ranged.
I finished the pinkian urgent without getting hit once, but since I required 25 mins I decided to speed up things by going online and helping some guys in HR.
Jesus christ the horror I had to witness that day.

Recently picked up 4U again after a few months.
Using the Dragonwood Flute and Teostra HH in a room with a bunch of status users is pretty fun. Para and blast for days.
Also people in fucking G rank still don't seem to know how skills work. Like fuck, I ran into maybe 3 different people in a few different G1 and G2 rooms with some shitty amalgamation of high rank armors, or occasionally some G parts, that give no skills or one skill that is shit, like a Palico skill, and they don't even look good.

I can honestly say for the most part I've never played with a group this useless. Usually in my case it's one guy who somehow struggles his way to G1 and fucks it up over and over, never learning how to stay the fuck out of harm's way. I mean, I've been the guy before, sometimes heavy bowgun doesn't always work out the way I want it to and sometimes I'll be the one who takes all three carts. But at least it's clear that for the most part I know what I'm doing or that I'm learning, I don't immediately blow those three carts on the same mission three times because because the GS user refuses to use the guard or evade button when Nerscylla comes in to rape your ass.

Holy shit end game gear is ridiculously powerful, we finish G3 quests (outside of boss monsters) in like 5 minutes.

Personally I don't have a problem with this if everyone is just farming, but doing this can result in HR hunters getting carried and not learning the monster. Also, when I was HR, I had a G2 CB user come in and cart twice against gravios of all things. We finish and go again thinking he just had a bad run. He carts in the first 5 min and RQs, leaving the two of us to finish since it was 3 man party. It took the same amount of time as the first round. He was in full G2 armor.

I've played both series to completion, and I honestly think Dark Souls is harder.
Monhon usually has you againt a single monster, and once you learn their patterns, fighting them is like dancing, you just follow the their lead.
Also, the sheer amount of consumables you can bring nullifies most difficulty.
The souls series isnt incredibly difficult, but it is definitely much less forgiving.

The weapon is usually the one thing that should be geared down the most.
As long as you don't get hit, defense values don't matter, and many HR and G sets focus on having roughly the same skills, but weapons often double in strength. Like, I made a Cheda blade for gearing down, which has around 1000 attack, while my Tartarus has 1700 attack. Fights would be over twice as fast if I didn't swap weapons.

Recently picked up Bow for 3U, thinking of making my ranged weapon of choice. Anybody have some good sets to build? Currently running a Green Narga set with most of the bows I use, I have Selene Moonbroken, Aquasteed Harp, Amber Arc Valanga, and Oppressor's Answer, so I have most elements covered. I also have the fully upgraded Kelbi bow, but I'm not really looking to complete a Gigginox set any time soon. I figure building on the fundementals of bow would be more valuable than going straight to the cheese set.
