Fisherman NPC gives you a quest each day to fish for a specific quest-only fish in a biome he decides. You get the fish and give it to the NPC and he gives you some money and an item in return. Some of the items are pretty good (bottomless water bucket, golden bug net, water absorbing sponge) but most are crap. You have to do this for 200 days, across any number of maps and characters. Steam just counts all quests done as done, instead of per world/character, while the game itself counts them per map for specific reward targets.
It's very tedious, especially if events are going on, or the fish just doesn't drop quickly.

When I start a new character I always start a fresh new world with it. I usually make it to hardmode before I give up and go to past worlds for items. Even then, I only get mid-hardmode weapons, tools and armor I can't be assed to farm up again. Then I just try to get the endgame stuff on my own with those items as I did before.

Each boss has at least one extra attack (eye charges really fast, skeletron has a projectile and moves faster, king slime can teleport into you and spawns spiked slimes, etc.) and more health. You pretty much need to make arenas or chug a lot of different potions to beat the bosses.

Expert mode will fuck you over, anon. You should go through a full run (kill all bosses from King Slime to Moon Lord) on normal, then remake a world as Expert and try again. Everything is buffed or acts differently in Expert, so you definitely need to get a feel for the game first.

The only real consequence is in multiplayer if your team are battling a boss. It turns into 'stay alive until your team can return'unless you're cheap and set the boss arena as your spawn beforehand

All you need is a spare chest and a bunch of spare characters to load up
Normally you're only allowed to have one quest fish at time in your inventory when you catch one, so what you do is grab a chest and slap it next to your fishing spot. Every time you catch the quest fish, stick it in the chest. Now just have your extra characters grab a fish from the chest and complete the quest.
Bam, that's like 10 fish or so per quest depending on your luck. The only other thing you have to worry about is moving all the fish to an area near the angler if the fishing spot is too far or dangerous for your other characters to get to

My friend and I are in the same boat, except we are already in hardmode.
But we just cannot for the life of us beat any of the hardmode bosses. We have full Palladium armor and don't really wanna have to keep scouring the entire map for more adamantite for 2 full armor sets.
And Im not even sure how much they would help since all the bosses just shred us

You can try fighting some hallowed mimics to get a daedalus stormbow. That thing wrecks the destroyer. If you are playing on expert you pretty much need an arena with heart statues and buffs to stand a chance most of the time.

Daedalus Stormbow was stupid good against Destroyer for me. Especially when paired with Holy Arrows.
If you want a really cheese Destroyer, build a box high up into the air. The box should be solid walls on all sides, and then an opening of platforms on the bottom, only 2-3 squares wide. Focus on the probes as they're released and fly into the box. The solid walls make it so Destroyer and its probes can't shoot lasers through the walls at you. The height should be sufficient that the Destroyer itself doesn't fly up into the air and hit you physically. Since you're killing probes as they enter the box, you shouldn't get overwhelmed from those.
If you get low on health, just stand away from the opening. The probes that are still around shouldn't be able to deal enough damage to substantially hurt you.
Since you're so safe in the box, it's really just a race against night to deal enough damage to kill Destroyer before daytime, and I think a night cycle is about 9 minutes? 7:30PM to 4:30 AM?

I hate that melee weapons kinda suck against bosses. And hard mode enemies in general. You generally want space between you and enemies on expert at least Ive found.

I believe so. I think the sweet spot is where it's a bit off the bottom of the screen.
Mostly what you're looking for is that you're high enough that it doesn't just cruise around and casually enter the box.
I think you're still low enough that if it gets enough "momentum" it come come straight up and hit you. At that point you have to decide if it's going to fall to the left side or right side, and not get stuck under it.
Getting stuck under it shouldn't be so bad, you should have the cobalt shield from the dungeon so you can just run to the other side. You just gave it a free hit at that point.

When I fought Destroyer with my brother, we just dug a pit in the ground. It wasn't deep enough that it couldn't reach us, so when we fought it we were trying to get hit by its lasers, the probe's lasers, by Destroyer itself, and by the probes. I used Daedelus, and I forget what my brother used. We fought it in the open air and had a miserable time. I think we tried at least 6+ times before we killed it.
The strategy HappyDays uses looks so painless and easy, that if you ever get frustrated and think, "I just want to beat it," I would suggest his.
