I played against the best players in my area, which is a busy university town. Held my own, won a couple, never got 3 stocked. Played Marth. Could have done better if I stopped playing aggressively in a game that so incredibly rewards defensive play.
Shitty movement options, lack of running jump momentum, and stupidly powerful recoveries, crazy amounts of end lag, and free air dodges slow down the game and make it a boring, low skill floor/ceiling campfest.
I get people playing casually, but the competitive scene for this game is a joke.

Melee has fox falco sheik marth peach falcon jiggs and yoshi all viable at the highest level of play. That's 8. Sm4sh has shiek and zss, plus maybe pikachu and diddy. Sheik has much greater dominance in sm4sh than foxonly has in melee.
As for tomahawking, i can't recall getting any decent, consistent follow ups out of his throws. We reset to neutral more times per match than most days i spend in melee/pm
