Sup /v/? Any noob pointers for this game? I'm still in the beginning, central Yharnam. If I go left there's this giant ass nigger with an axe who rapes me. If I go right, there's a group of humans who also rape me. What am I doing wrong?
>>322194904
OP again, I have not played any of the Dank Souls games so this is my first.
Kill the enemies and then use the lamppost to go back to the hunters dream talk to the doll woman and level up your character
Also take it slow and you can bait the enemies one by one by shooting them. Makes them easier to deal with.
>>322194904
Skip ax guy. Go for the angry mob.
Pick them apart and play safe then push forward.
>>322194904
Have you triedgetting better?
>>322195203
I get killed. I don't think I'm doing it right.
>>322195220
That's why I posted man. Trying to get better with some advice.
>>322194904
Run away a lot. Die a lot. Keep trying a lot.
Clothes basically don't matter. Dodge m8. Put sum points in stamina. Learn to parry. Git gud.
If you're asking here you might as well look up a playthrough to see how people deal with enemies. But, only for this part, because you clearly lack a fundamental understanding of how to pick off enemies in video games.
dash away from attacks and use pebbles and your gun to pull individual yharnamites towards you so you can give them a slap
Just started this gamei played for 13 hours nonstop, just toilet breaksand it feels kinda easy compared to Dark Souls, the invicibilty frames feel like forever somehow, dodged shit i thought was gonna kill me
Fun game tho, really liking it
>>322194904
Use pebbles to draw out the enemies one by one.
>>322196213
There are only 3 hard bosses in the entire story campaign. More in the DLC.
Get hunters axe, hold r2, win
>>322196337
Oh... Shit!
Reminder that 1 in 3 people can't get past gascoin and quit the game.
DOn't rush into the lynch mob, pick them off using bullets and pebbles
When you do feel confident enough to go into them, take out the rifleman on the ground, then the dogs, then the rifleman up top
VIT is more important than END. END is useful only up until 15-20, but shit costs so little stamina you won't really be found wanting
Every weapon has at least one crowd-control mode
The true Bloodborne starts here.
>>322196485
Well, Cleric Beast was piss easy, first try, Father took me 2 tries but eventually just throw a molotov at that bitch, blood starved nerd took 2 tries, his poison fucked me up, but noticed i had poison resistance armor so it went easy then, and the last one i cant remember but it was that girl with golden medallion that turned into a screaming hoe, took her on my second try
I dont know, it just feels so easy really, it's a fun game but the bosses are such a let down
>>322194904
I'm in the same boat OP. Just beat the cleric beast and Now I'm fighting another hunter idk why. Here's a tip don't fight anyone just yet run all the way to the first boss. Fight'em, then when you die you get one point of insight which you can use to level up. Choose a troubled pasted origin with pistol and axe.
>>322196597
only 68% of people that played the game beat cleric beast. Either people are ridiculously bad at this game or have no idea how to summon people or help people beat bosses to gain insight.
>>322194904
the trick isnot to die
I got my ass kicked by the gatling gun guy in old Yharnam. Notes said "hunter ahead use firearms"
My pistol did jackshit and he killed me within 15 seconds
I want to fuck vicar amelia
>>322196754
>trouble pasted
>>322194904
The combat in Bloodborne supports fighting mobs pretty well, you can take groups of 4 jackoffs at a time, just bait them out.
Axe nigger isn't hard, either, you can dance around anything, it's Bloodborne. Be mobile.
>>322196824
>>322196801
Well the game doesn't really go out of it's way to explain shit. Most people prolly haven't figured out how to level up.
>>322194904
As a fellow noob who just recently beat the Witches of Henwick:
Take your time, the game rewards exploration. And while exploration usually leads to alternate boss encounters, it also works as a way of breaking you into the game. I tried playing Dark Souls about 3 years ago, but dropped it pretty soon because I just gave up. But I've really been enjoying Bloodborne, I like how offensive and fast the combat is.
>>322196868
Just run from cover to cover, go up his tower and make him kill himself by dodging off the ledge, that happened to me
>>322196728
It also depends on what weapon you chose. If you went with hunter axe like I did, only 3 bosses which you haven't faced yet will pose a challenge.
The other bosses aren't that hard.
>>322196868
I cheesed it by repeatedly shooting him while he was on the ledge, then I shot him off and he died. Respawned and went back to the tower and his gear was there.
>>322197013
He'll run off the tower after me like a retard? Would I still get any items that he drops?
>>322196926
What's wrong with that I went with wast of flesh my first round. How's the cane btw is it any good?
>>322195076
He can't level until he gets an insight
What's with all the bloodborne threads recently?
Is this the game every kid got for christmas this year?
Can I fuck the doll?
>>322196968
Which is honestly one of the biggest hurdles depending on what boss you face first.
I imagin that 32 percent chose the threaded cane, didn't realize there were molotovs and took back the game thinking it was retarded.
>>322197152
There's always been bloodborne threads anon
>>322197080
All weapons are viable in this game. Judging from your posts you might wanna use one of the other two weapons so.
The cleaver gets bonus damage against beasts and those are most of the enemies in the game so you may want to try learning how to use that.
>>322196968
OP here, I have not. How do you do that?
>>322196639
Probably a dumb question, but like that other fag said, the game doesn't explain shit...where do I get pebbles?
>>322196597
Only 62% of the people that have played Demon's Souls have beaten Phalanx
Same with ringing the first bell in Dark Souls
Second bell only has 52%
Honestly, most games have a large chunk of shitters who just never pick it up again after turning it on for the first time
>>322197170
No, but you can make her cry.
>>322197235
Look around for an item called "madman's knowledge". Pop one and bam, you get an insight. Go back to the hunter's dream and the doll will be awake.
I think I found the madman's knowledge around the sewers. I forgot where the earliest/easiest one to find is.

He literally dodged off the side with the ladder for me, took fell damage and died, just got to his body and picked up his emblem or whatever it was called
>>322197063
I took the axe, killed Cleric, got Kirkhammer and went +2 on it, beat the shit out of Father, then when i could i rolled Ludwig's Holy Blade, and it is at +6 as of now, just going around 1 shoting every mob, just hope there is more challenging stuff ahead
>>322197080
Not for a first playthrogh, saw cleaver or saw spear are better. Really lame whip mode. Hammer is bad too. Other weapons are ok.
>>322197235
YOu can't level up until you see your first boss or find a Madman's Knowledge
Pebbles are dropped by enemies. You can also buy them in the Hunter's Dream. There's that birdbath with messengers floating in it, and that's a shop you can buy them for at 10 echoes a pebble
>>322197235
nigger I just told you 322196754
You find rocks randomly and on birds I think. Alot of crows have pebbles on'em.
Why does the doll have eyes on her eyeballs?
Kick ass. Also trynot being a little bitch.
>>322197382
If you already are fluent with the games mechanics and take time to farm the game won't be that big of a challenge for you.
If you couldn't beat the 2nd form of gascoin without molotovs there will be some bosses that you will have trouble with.
If anything the Hunter DLC boss will as only like 3% of people even beat it.
>>322197226
Nah man ax master race. The saws alright but I just wasn't feeling it.
>>322197297
souls games have way more people who get stuck spamming r1, try running around without doing anything effective while a boss repeatedly hits them to prove how retarded the game is, and then give up
people want to win doing whatever is familiar to them, if you give most people something out of their comfort zone and challenge them at the same time they lose their shit
>>322197075
>He'll run off the tower after me like a retard? Would I still get any items that he drops?
You can come up to him, then when he aggro, go down the ladder. he will chase after you falling to his death.
Come back up the tower and exit the game and reload, the item drops when he is killed will be there
>>322197640
My friend who recommended this game to me also said he was an axe man but I picked the saw...
>>322197640
Use the trick mode's charged R2 attack, it decimates most enemies by sending them flying back. Protip: it'll work on both of gascoigne's forms too.
Don't use it as a crutch for too long since it doesn't take care of every enemy.I'm glad you're willing to take the time to learn the game instead of just shitting all over it.

>>322197650
A tip of the fedora to you sir
>>322197181
this is not an excuse, I chose threaded cane as my first weapon and even then you can use it's whip form to trap him behind gravestones and shit and attack safely, every weapon has it's own advantage.
most people don't seem to understand the cardinal rules:
1. dodge once instead of spamming the button and hoping it misses
2. attack when the enemy is not attacking you (generally after a dodge)
3. walking around and watching what the enemy does is a lot better than mashing R1 and hoping it dies.
>>322197525
Thats nice to hear, looking forward to it really, i love the feel of being shitted on by bosses and gradually getting closer to that sweet victory
Just throw a molotov because it was almost over and had no hp stuff left, and didnt see the meaning to risk getting in that last hit instead of a molotov, haha
Did only 3% beat that? Seems kinda cool, what level would you recommend i should be for going to the DLC?
gascoigne is laughably easy when you get used to the game
biggest issue people seem to have is that when he begins hitting them they roll away which often makes them chain leaping attacks into you until you die
dodge around him and he's usually open for an attack or two before you dodge again and repeat the process
>>322197851
Go and find his daughter to get the music box, it lets you stun him.
>>322197891

>>322197713

>>322198345
only somewhat, not really
you probably won't be able to get anything that would trivialize the game anyway, the first boss is a wall
>>322197972
60 up. 90 for a noob. Just before the final boss of the main quest.
>>322198345
If you care about plot (some people do) save dlc for later. There's good but not necessarily better things in the dlc so you won't end up overpowered except you might get items to level up weapons higher than the games natural gating would allow you.
>>322198640
>implying 95% of the plot won't be incomprehensible to first time players
>>322198419
Alright man, thanks, i will try the DLC areas, and I hope you're right about it breaking my balls, my greatest memory was from Ornstein and Smough when i first played Dark Souls, fucked me for 2 days, it was the most rewarding experience ever
>>322198736
I mean okay that's valid but there's at least one dlc boss that's only interesting if you played the main game.
Honestly like all souls games half the plot is hearsay and fancanon so I just kind of tried to make sense of things as I played, realized it was incomprehensible, and watched ENB like I did for Dark Souls.
>>322198751
you're around my level, I'm warning you now, I've upgraded shit as much as I can currently and regular enemies (who are hunters) fuck half your hp in one hit and it takes like 3 stamina bars full of attacks to kill one.
>>322198640
I don't really play these game for the plot, so thats okay atleast, never really thought about it in any Souls game, just fell in love with the combat, and that's why i play em, haha
Well, it's nice that it wont destroy my vanilla playthrough atleast, would suck if i ended up overpowered after the dlcs :c
>>322198751

Fuck man i was about to take a nap after the 13 hour endless gametime streak, but you guys made me start my ps4 again

>>322194904
Okay, for most bosses you encounter, its much better to dodge toward them, than away.
because these fuckers are huge, of course 90% of their movesets are going to be sweeps, with a shitload of range. However, most of the time their moves wont hit behind them.
Master that shit. dont play like a pussy.
>>322198919
the rifle spear, even if not very upgraded, is incredible for regular strong enemies
you could easily go in at level 4 and farm the dlc with it at +3
>>322199115
I'll give it a try, I've been using blade of mercy/ludwig's holy blade
>>322194904
Bloodborne gameplay is built around three concepts.
1. Aggression. Be aggressive, but control it. When you get hit, there's a period of time in which you can restore your health by hitting the enemy. Damage is tons higher than in other Souls games and ATTACKING, rather than DEFENDING, is what you should be doing. However, do not mistake this for SPAM. If you SPAM, you will DIE.
2. Avoidance. Your character is incredibly agile and capable of dashing multiple times away from and towards enemies. Keep an eye on your stamina meter and only ever attack until there's enough stamina remaining to dash at least once. Dodge enemies and learn to do it well. And again, don't spam or you will lose all your stamina unnecessarily and die.
3. Control/Strategy. As mentioned before, Bloodborne is a game where if you spam, you die. It's all about controlling your moves and maintaining a mental discipline while playing, while also figuring out how to deal with certain obstacles but also having the twitch-reaction skills to quickly change tactics when the unexpected happens (which it will). If you're up against a large group of opponents, try cat-and-mouse, or luring them into a place you only have to fight one at a time. When you get stronger and have the attack power and range on your weapon to kill a group at once before they can even attack you, then go ahead - but don't get cocky.
That's the Bloodborne success philosophy as far as I'm concerned, but here are some other tips.
1. Use pebbles to lure enemies out. Pebbles can be found by looting dead things.
2. You can't level up until you kill the cleric beast near the beginning/find insight
3. Progress slowly and explore everywhere.
4. All weapons in the game have two different modes of use. One is usually better for one-on-one encounters, the other is usually better for crowd control and heavy hits. Decide which you like best in different situations and take advantage of the movesets.
>>322199578
"Forward and to the left"
That phrase should be your mantra
>>322199578

5. Get every item you find and loot all enemies. They give you health potions and silver bullets for your gun. Read item descriptions too, as many give clues about the plot and how to use them that might not otherwise be told.
6. Your gun is not worth it as a method for attack. Bullets are limited and the damage isn't too great. However, if you shoot an enemy when they start their attack animation, you can stun/parry them, then quickly dash in and get in a critical attack for nice damage.
7. If you run out of bullets, you can sacrifice some of your health to create blood bullets by using one of the directional buttons (I forgot which one). Usually not worth it unless you have an enemy to leech your health back from.
8, When up against a boss, you're literally a human fighting a giant, badass, hyper-aggressive monster. Don't be afraid to use consumables to even the odds. Most beasts are weak to fire, so make sure to take molotovs.
9. For the love of god, don't be afraid to drink your health potions. The enemy literally drops them. Don't be Pat and Woolie. If you need to use them, USE THEM.
10. Go back to the Hunter's Dream quite often.
11. Upgrade your weapons and enchant them when you have the ability to do so. The starting weapon can carry you through the game as long as you upgrade it.
12. Bloodtinge is useless.
13. Arcane only increases elemental damage on weapons that already have an elemental enchantment. All weapons scale with arcane but if there's no element there already it's useless.
14. Insight changes the game world. The more you have, the more you see.
15.Use all the umbilical cords
>>322200632
>Bloodtinge is useless.
Unless you want to trivialize the game, in which case go for 50 and pick up Chikage and the Bowblade.
>>322200632
Actually >>322200767 is right. I should have put "Bloodtinge isn't worth it until med-late game/second playthrough".

He's stupidly easy to parry. If you're having trouble, just spam. You'll eventually get it.
So is there seriously no checkpoint in central Yharnam until I beat it all the way through? I'm pretty far in this time.
>>322201064
Theres one atThe Great Birdge after an optional boss
You wont find a checkpoint until you beat a boss most times. Look for shortcuts to open instead
>>322201064
Bloodborne uses a lot of shortcuts to mitigate the need to put bonfires everywhere. This encourages exploration and gives a fuller feel to the actual game map. That's how you can tell it's a Miyazaki-directed game, too, DS2 was just a straight line with checkpoints every so often, but Bloodborne, DS1 and DeS are more like labyrinths or rings.
But just as a hint, when you walk across the bridge towards the cleric beast boss (the end of the bridge where there's a gate thing and a seemingly dead end), there's an opening that leads down into a building with villagers inside. It's dark, but go to the bottom level and out the back door and you can unlock the gate that's right next to the bonfire/lamp at the top of the big ladder at the beginning.

Bloodborne was my first Souls game too, anon. I'm not good at it, but I'm much better than I once was. I will give you the suggestion I gave myself.
Find pic related if you haven't already. He's near the gate shortcut in Central Yharnam, which is beside the ladder that leads to the first lamp. Fight him, and fight him a lot. I don't care how many times you die to him or how many times you kill him, keep fighting him until you can consistently dodge through all of his attacks. For the sake of setting a goal, let's say you shouldn't stop fighting him until you can dodge straight through his axe ten times in a row without eating pavement. Learning how to abuse your invincibility frames is how you play Bloodborne, and this guy will teach you exactly that. It might hurt, but he'll school you good.

Why does the corpse of Kos have red blood?
B-team shenanigans no doubt.
>>322206894
I'm still busy being confused about how sometimes old blood results in beast plague, but other times it results in turning into a wobblehead and/ or Japan monster. Are old blood and paleblood different? I don't even fucking know anymore. I know Old Yharnam has that whole Ashenblood plague, and Bloodstarved is named Origin of the Beast Blood or something in moon, but you find that fucker in a church, so it's associated with the church in some way, and the church is all about the great ones. Laurence turned into a beast, and he used the old blood, which he got from Byrgenwerth, which is about as steeped in great ones shit as it gets, so I don't really understand why sometimes old blood turns people into kin (in the case of Imposter's victims), and other times it turns people into werewolves. Red blood vs. white blood vs. black blood is the least of my worries at this point.
>>322207390
I think Paleblood is strictly white Aay blood, the blue blob heads are manufactured Aays and the 'Old blood' is simply that, old blood or rather the original blood that started all this carry on in the first place but your guess is as good as mine tbqh familiar.
Why do you have to see Paarl to make Djura not be such a faggot? I don't see anything that seems to tie the two.
So this seems like as good a place to ask as any, should I get a PS4 for this game? I'm a fan of all the previous Souls games but besides Bloodborne I can't really think of anything I want on PS4.

Bloodborne is a personal 10/10 and GOAT for me, but I wouldn't fucking buy an entire system just for that. There's other games coming out on it that interest me as well, and the complete package between them and Bloodborne is what sold me on one. Look up all the games for it, especially the exclusives, and make up your own mind. Bloodborne should be a definite mark in its favor, but if Xbone or PC or Wii U have more games that you really want, go for one of those instead.
