Why isn't the Kiseki series more popular?
Most of the fans are huge elitists and scare away any possible newcomers. While that can be considered quality control for many here, it's really not doing much when your fanbase is already really shitty. Just take a look at Sen threads lately.
All that, plus the games taking until 2013 to be 3D, I guess.
Most aren't translated, the ones that are took a ridiculously long time to come out.

Half of the games aren't in English. They're on PSP and PC. PSP is dead and PC users don't care for Japanese games as much as console users. Lack of voice acting to attract casuals.
Direct sequels are never a good thing if you want the second game to sell anywhere as good as the first.

It sucks because Falcom deserves a lot more, but hell if the series isn't great. I really really like Cold Steel.
I guess slow localization, no advertising, PSP piracy, are what did bad for it here. I'm just glad it hasn't deterred Falcom at all.

i played trails in the sky and i thought it was incredibly boring with molasses battle, bland character doing bland things and looking as ugly as possible even for a really old game

What RPGs on portables do you consider better? I don't see how stopping a few hours in is a valid reason to have an opinion on a series, more when the RPG takes its time with world building before killing everything you love.
If you play so many RPGs, what would you say is better? Stuff like Bravely Default and Xenoblade X (both recent RPGs i played) had some of the worst writing ever.

radiata historia, the world ends with you, why does it matter to look at it as "a portable rpg" when it's actualy an old pc 2004 game anyway? that was the year when games like baten kaitos and nocturne were being released both of which are miles better than what i played from trails in the sky

i just couldn't get into the battle system, it's just sooooooooo slow paced, why did they have to make it pseudo SRPG? it doesn't make it more strategic it just makes battle taking longer

Too old now and the localizations took far too long making it over here. Have to start from the beginning in an already long ass series and it only gets better the further you go so now so it alienates newcomers and poorfags.

Nah its just a really heartwarming story
Its pretty cliche and cringe at times but thats part of its charm
If you liked FF9 you'll have a big slap of nostalgia when you play Trails, they're very similar.
The combat system is pretty meh but everything else about it is comfy as fuk, great soundtrack because its from the creators of Yswhich have AMAZING soundtracksand you're looking at roughly 50 hours of entertainment for cheap as fuck.

Basically these. I found the Kiseki games to be quite nice, but nothing that really sticks out compared to the other hundred RPGs released in recent years.

Baten is too polarizing and odd, I don't consider it better or worse, its just so different.
Trails doesn't have the best gameplay, but the stories and dialogue are better written than most jRPGs, which is probably the most important thing about them.
There are much worse games out there, in both storytelling and gameplay, and I've played through those with no problem. Trails is far from bad or boring. For reference, my favorite jRPG is Mana Khemia.

Not that anon, but I got maybe 10 hours in and have the same feeling. The writing isn't peak terrible, but there is far too much of it. If you need to go upstairs it'll be all:
